So many movies, so little time...

While cleaning out my bookshelf downstairs, I found over a dozen movie ticket stubs from various flicks in my key bowl. Looking through them, I was amazed how long they'd been there and how many movies I've seen over the last few months. LOL! I really need a life.

There are some good times in these tickets though:

There is something very magical to me about watching a movie in a theater, it's an experience versus watching it at home. I'm sure I'll be heading to many, many more.

I Envy You Because I Cant Watch A Movie In A Theater...Too Many Distractions For Me...

I've had a few distracting movie going experiences lately, so I know what you mean. However, it's like watching a baseball game live and on TV, there is something about the total experience of being in the movie theater environment that makes it better.

That's a pretty cool picture. I should save my movie stubs and do something similar. :)

Thanks, it turned out better than I thought it would, but I photoshopped it a bit.

I noticed the one ticket says "Adult" on it. Would you mind explaining the type of movie you saw with that one, mister? ;)

LOL.. it relates only to the price I paid to see it. As I'm sure you know, we don't have THOSE kinds of theaters here ;)

I too love going to the movies. But the people at the movies are starting to drive me crazy. Talkers, cell phones, kids, ugh.

I recently was in Muncie and decided to take in a movie one night. I saw National Treasure. (This was a few weeks back) Any how, I was the only one in the theater, so I was in heaven. But 45 minutes in, 3 high school kids came in very loudly. And of all the empty seats, they decided to sit right behind me! One of them hit me in the head when he took off his coat. Then they proceeded to talk to try to figure out what happened in the first half of the movie. I finally moved to the other end of the row where it was a little quieter.

What is wrong with people today? (Am I starting to sound like a old man?)

-Dave

I don't think it's you getting older, I think it's just a loss of respect for watching a movie on the part of some bratty kids. And they don't see the problem with talking in a movie, or text messaging, or being obnoxious.

If they came in after 45 minutes then I'll bet they didn't have tickets. I would have grabbed an usher and had them checked and then demanded my money back because you couldn't enjoy the flick. Most theaters I've been in no longer have ushers in the theater unless they've already had a problem, and sadly, they're mostly teenagers themselves.

It almost makes you want to NOT go to the movies. A friend of mine suggested that theaters should have "adults only" showings of popular movies, no matter the rating, to exclude the teenage brats that filter in and the screaming babies that have no business being in the movie in the first place. I wish they'd do it.

Our Showcase up here in Springdale recently converted and created 4 special directors cuts room. It cost $2.00 more to see a movie in there, but the offer added amenities like nicer chairs and reserved seating. I don't think the amenities are worth the extra cost. But I do think the extra cost is worth keeping the teenagers and parents with crying babies out. I hate to sound like a snob, but I want to enjoy my movie!

Oh, I would gladly pay the extra money for the comfort and enjoyment of the movie without the teenybopper crowd. The sad part is that we shouldn't have to pay more to enjoy it that way.

... and I think babies should cost a full price ticket. I'm sure that would eliminate a fair number of parents who want to take them to a show!

If it makes you feel better, I kind of collect my ticket stubs. Somewhere in my house I have a (thankfully small) box of movie tickets I've been saving for years. I completely relate to the memories involved with each ticket (some more remembered than others).

Hey, nice to meet you :)

I've given the idea of collecting the stubs a lot of thought lately after finding these. [livejournal.com profile] chrisglass a few months ago did a really neat post on a collage he had created from family photos and such that was sealed with a special coating (sorry Chris, I can't remember what it was called). I thought that it might be something neat to try with the stubs and some movie memorabilia.

Good to meet you, too.
Was it decoupage? Where you take paper (or pictures) and place them on a surface, then sealing them with lacquer or varnish. A friend of mine did this when making a calendar (http://www.livejournal.com/users/inmfs/4811.html) using Where the Wild Things Are clippings.
It's a great idea, though. Would make use of these tabs of paper that just sit in a box. Only problem for me is it'd constantly be a work in progress. I can't seem to stop collecting these tickets! -g-

That is it, decoupage. And I really like the calendar, that was neat! :)
