I finished the weekend driving home and then mowing the yard. I hate to admit this, but I started a dreaded low carb diet last night.

I'm a little chunky guy, I know, and I honestly find a stocky man attractive, but I have health concerns that I need to address now. My dad was built like me, maybe a bit heavier, and he developed adult-onset diabetes, high blood pressure, and a stroke, all of which eventually led to his demise a few years ago. All of his doctors said that his weight contributed to it and warned my mom that if any of her kids were built the same way to watch out for him. Well, out of five kids, I'm the only one.

The idea of losing weight is a good one. I'm not looking for washboard abs (although a nicer, bigger chest would be nice). I hope to drop 30 lbs. I plan on hitting the gym a bit more too. This is day one. Here we go....

Good luck with this program.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] versakub and I started a low carb also, but I've not been as faithfull as him.

He found a low carb cook show on the food channel. But does that give you some great iddeas for meals. And the products we have found in the stores, a very cool too.

So witht his show on tv and all the new products out there, I think you'll find this to be easier then you think.

2 things to check out. diet Vanilla coke? is the best diet tasting pop I've every tasted (and I hate diet pop) and Jolly Rancher's sugar free candy? they cure my sweet tooth.

Be prepared to get bitchy. ;-) Well at least for a week or so. The body tends to get a bit upset the first week or two of the diet. After that if you stick to it you will find it smooth sailing. Also be prepared to get tons of energy along about the third week...find some things to do because otherwise you'll be tweaking out.

Be careful of all the low carb stuff out there. If you haven't already you may want to look through the latest Consumer Reports about all the new low carb stuff. Yeah, much of it is good but remember that you can't eat all of it and still be low carbing.

Good luck!
