I first saw this video a couple of days ago and really couldn't believe it. This young lady is 18, I think, and was picked up for possession of Xanax. During her arraignment, she giggles and twirls her hair in front of the judge, not taking this seriously at all (in fact, the judge asks if she's "on something"). I suspect she thought her cuteness would get her out of trouble.

However, her actions backfire in a big way when she flips the judge the bird after he raises her bond due to her smartness. She then says, "'sup" to the judge, arms crossed and head moving full of attitude. She was definitely asking for it.

I don't feel sorry for her at all and pity the defending attorney. What bugs me most of all are some of the Youtube comments where people are trashing the judge for being harsh. Ummm... you disrespect the court and you're going to be punished. If she was too stupid to know that, then she'll have some time to learn and contemplate that during her time in the lockup.

"Adios!"

Wow, there's something really wrong with that girl.

The judge was not being harsh; you don't tell a judge to fuck off, unless you're an idiot.

I saw this video last night, she was definitely acting out. It is hard to tell if she really was on something or not. I suspect she was.

While the judge was definitely within reason to punish her for her behavior... I have to wonder why he got so angry when she said "adios". They were in Florida, there's a large Spanish-speaking culture there.

Unfortunately, my having worked for the courts leaves me with the impression that the judgment was probably later rescinded. Judges will sometimes try to apply the "scared straight" approach by imposing something severe and then amending it once the "lesson" has sunk in.

I hope that's not the case here. This defendant's I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude is pretty common.
