I first saw this video a couple of days ago and really couldn't believe it. This young lady is 18, I think, and was picked up for possession of Xanax. During her arraignment, she giggles and twirls her hair in front of the judge, not taking this seriously at all (in fact, the judge asks if she's "on something"). I suspect she thought her cuteness would get her out of trouble.

However, her actions backfire in a big way when she flips the judge the bird after he raises her bond due to her smartness. She then says, "'sup" to the judge, arms crossed and head moving full of attitude. She was definitely asking for it.

I don't feel sorry for her at all and pity the defending attorney. What bugs me most of all are some of the Youtube comments where people are trashing the judge for being harsh. Ummm... you disrespect the court and you're going to be punished. If she was too stupid to know that, then she'll have some time to learn and contemplate that during her time in the lockup.

"Adios!"

Wow, there's something really wrong with that girl.

The judge was not being harsh; you don't tell a judge to fuck off, unless you're an idiot.

I saw this video last night, she was definitely acting out. It is hard to tell if she really was on something or not. I suspect she was.

While the judge was definitely within reason to punish her for her behavior... I have to wonder why he got so angry when she said "adios". They were in Florida, there's a large Spanish-speaking culture there.

I think there is something wrong with her. Most folks when they get in trouble with the law are skittish and scared. She seemed silly.

And that attitude! Her parents did well raising that one...

Unfortunately, my having worked for the courts leaves me with the impression that the judgment was probably later rescinded. Judges will sometimes try to apply the "scared straight" approach by imposing something severe and then amending it once the "lesson" has sunk in.

I hope that's not the case here. This defendant's I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude is pretty common.

I'm guess her cheery "Adios!" was just a sign to the judge that she was not taking this seriously. He'd put up with quite a bit of her silliness up to that point and probably felt the need to drive the seriousness of it forward.

And I'm curious if she was on something too. She was a bit too happy to be in court.

I hope it sticks too. I can't imagine any judge would be swayed to relent after she blatantly gives him the finger and the $#%! off.

Young thang needs a lesson. I'm sure her parents are proud.

Trust me, there are plenty of reasons -- chief of which is the fear of having a judgment overturned by an appeals court. That's pretty much a major strike for a judge who is, after all, an elected official. Yes, it's within that judge's purview to impose a harsh sentence, but I'm sure the defense would argue that it was unusually "harsh" snd "unfair" and would thus likely be overturned.

Most defendants intuitively know that judge's are shackled in this fashion -- and that's why, I think, this one was so shocked by the ruling. Her attitude is unfortunately all too common, despite the perception by most that people are humble when brought into court.

Oh I bet you're right, but I doubt she could come in there with a sincere apology. After she was handed her 30-days, she just said "fine" or something, totally defiant. If not 30, I'd leave her in there for at least a week or so.

Sorry to get all serious with this.

Hey, how about this week's Drag Race results? Ya gotta be happy with that.

LOL... I was SOOOO happy to see her go. I think her drag look was 100X better this week, but her whole "makeup is painting, dress is like sculpture, etc." stuff was making me gag. She's trying to sound so artsy and claps for herself, but she just came off annoying.

I was very surprised to see the Untucked where the girls ganged up on her pretty viciously. That seemed a bit staged.

that seemed a bit staged

As did all the "She's got something on her mind" comments before Monica Beverly Hillz' big revelation during the regular episode.

And I'm not sure I agree with the decision to allow her to continue competing. Drag is all about self-identified men donning the personas; Monica, as a transgendered person, self-identifies as a woman. Would they allow a biological female to compete?

It's curious, because I thought the same thing. If she is transgender, does she meet the definition of a drag queen? I would hate to see her excluded for that reason, as she is part of the LBGTQ community, but would that not open the door for a female competitor? I have no idea, but it's an interesting subject for debate.
