I'm not much into most TV shows these days. My usual disdain for reality TV is still present (with a few exceptions). Even the raved about shows, like "The Big Bang Theory," I often catch in repeats more than the new episodes. However, there are a few shows I find myself making time for:

  • "Being Human" on the SyFy Channel. I stopped watching it mid-second season, but caught up and am watching the third season now. Things are getting creepier now with the goings-on between a vampire, werewolf, and ghost roommates. I've never watched the UK version, but I like the North American version. I think the actors are cuter anyway.

  • "Bunheads" on ABC Family. This show cracks me up. It's by the same creator of the "Gilmore Girls," and has many of the same stars as the odd town folks. It's the story of a Vegas showgirl and Broadway-dancer hopeful who spontaneously marries an admirer and meets his mother, a retired dancer herself (Kelly Bishop AKA Emily Gilmore). The son dies in a car accident and leaves the dance studio and property to his new wife who now is a partner with her mother-in-law. The machine gun banter is still there along with the quirkiness I enjoyed with the Gilmores.

  • "Elementary" on CBS. I really do enjoy this updated Sherlock Holmes and I think Lucy Liu as former surgeon Dr. Jane Watson is an interesting twist. The chemistry between them is pretty fun to watch, and I find the mysteries pretty inventive.

"Snapped" on Oxygen. Women who kill, essentially. I think there is a still an odd fascination that women can't be murderers. And strangely, most of the women end up killing off a husband or lover that I think is pretty cute. Not sure what that's about.

  • "RuPaul's Drag Race" on Logo. Do I really need to explain this one??

  • "Futurama" on Comedy Central. I can never get enough of this show. I saw the "Neutopia" episode last night, which is a favorite. I even got a pic of the scene that makes me laugh the most behind the cut. It might be slightly non-work-safe.

Favorite Futurama
A gender-changed Professor Farnsworth posing for a girly calendar. I laugh at it every time I see it.

So what do you watch? What should I be watching? I hear the hype, but personal opinions are much better.

Man, it's like every time I see an attractive guy in the newspaper. 9 times out of 10: FELON.

We only watch streaming TV anymore, so I'm a bit behind realtime when it comes to watching, but my favorite current(-ish) shows are: Fringe, Community, Bob's Burgers, Portlandia, Sherlock, Doctor Who, and Downton Abbey. (Also Archer and Futurama, but I think we've watched all of that there is to watch at the moment...)

The funny thing is, we have a decent backlog on some of those, and we often watch other things instead. Because when winding down in the evening, I often feel like I only want to half-watch something that I don't need to pay much attention to or care very much about...

Maybe we're attracted to the bad boys. Of course, the Snapped guys are dead, but not necessarily bad.

Those are some good shows, I hear. I have enjoyed Archer too, but I don't make an effort to watch it regularly. I catch Bob's Burgers on Sundays.

I tend to watch a lot of Netflix.

The only one that you make time for that I too enjoy is Elementary and I have never been a fan of Lucy L.

I watch when on stuff like top chef and project runway.

We also watch a lot of stuff from england such as homes under the hammer, escape to the country, great british railway journeys, Mrs Browns boys, Dr who and we have seen all of dounton abby that has not been seen here in the states. We also make sure to see winners and losers from australia. We also like very much the cooking shows such as the great british bake off and master chef as with the british you to not get the histrionics one gets with the American versions, you get cooking and good competition.

Now if I do watch anything a lot it is repeats of the golden girls more of a sound filler while I do other things late at night.

I really wish we in the States could get BBC channels. Not that BBC America isn't great, but it doesn't show all the BBC programming that's available. Having just been to the UK last month, I miss some of the shows I watched there.

And I almost always stop the TV flipping if the Golden Girls is on.

I've seen every episode of Golden Girls at least 15 times:) Have you seen Betty White in Hot in Cleveland?

I think you know me well enough by now that I'm going to say Doctor Who is one of the shows I recommend. The new/revamped series that started in 2005 has quite the kick to it.

Others I enjoy: Sherlock from the BBC, the UK version of Being Human, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Vegas), HBO's OZ.

I've heard good things but have yet to check in to: Once Upon a Time, Spartacus, Fringe.

A co-worker told me about "Once Upon a Time" and she was surprised that I'd not seen it. And "Spartacus" look like ... um ... fun :D

If you have Netflix you should be able to catch up on Once Upon a Time. Not sure if Spartacus is available on there...haven't gone looking for it myself yet.

Doctor Who is simply awesome!

I've been lovin' the show for almost 30 years now, and recommend it highly!

I've been cutting back a bit on TV lately, so I'm not the watch-all-the-time viewer I used to be. I think a lot of scripted dramas have fallen off my radar because they're predictable (sorry, I know you like "NCIS"), soap operas ("Revenge"), ridiculous ("The Vampire Diaries") or just becoming a chore to watch ("Supernatural").

I used to love "Futurama", then it was cancelled and I got out of the habit of watching it. The movies as filler were awkward enough to turn me off continue following. Not sure if the new seasons since are worth it, I haven't heard anything.

I've seen the first three seasons of the UK version of "Being Human", and liked it, but I haven't seen any of the US version. Its one of those shows that I'm in no hurry to keep up with.

Current viewing favorites:

• "The Good Wife" - Legal drama. Strengths: Continuity, great guest actors, complex characters: they don't always act Nice and they aren't always Bad. Start at the beginning.

• "Fringe" - a great sci-fi show which began strangely reminiscent of the X-Files... then grew into its own. "Doctor Who" and the first three seasons of "Torchwood" are also awesome.

• "Top Chef" is the only reality show I watch these days, since I think I've given up on Project Runaway (seriously, team challenges?)

• "Community" - I am thrilled to see it returning next week! Between that and "Big Bang Theory", I've got most of my comedy tv down for now!

• "Downton Abbey" - I know British period dramas really aren't everyone's cup of tea. Its also lead me to see "Wallander"

Am in the middle of "Psych", which is OK. Same for "Warehouse 13". No great stretch, they're neither of them "Battlestar Galactica" or "Buffy" or "Gilmore Girls" or "Veronica Mars".

However, I did catch the first half-season of "Arrow" and liked it. Not really certain if I'll keep up with it. And I'm in the middle of the first season of "Game of Thrones", which I DO like.

Edit: Oh, I can't forget "Family Guy". So. Fucking. Wrong. (Often.)

LOL! I think "Downtown Abbey" might be one I might need to look at, as everyone seems to rave about it.

Tim and I have very different tastes, but he has introduced me to a couple of series I really enjoy. Current viewing includes: Psych, Warehouse 13; Dr. Who, Downton Abbey and Smash. My old standbys are: NCIS, Bones, Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. I have given up on Glee altogether. I am still giving ""Once Upon a Time" a try. I've wanted to take in Bunheads. The series lead is Sutton Foster who is a huge star on Broadway! As Tim said, he really enjoys "The Good Wife". I can appreciate the actors, but it leaves me cold.

The new season of Project Runway. Not sure how I feel about the team component of the season, but I am glad Michael (Oompa Loompa) Kors is gone.

Elementary and Arrow are the stand outs for me this year. I got hooked on Once Upon a Time when Chris watched Season 1 on Netflix. Season 2 has been interesting so far.

not having cable TV has been very interesting. I'm hearing about all these other shows and I'm pretty apathetic about watching them.

Coming up, Zer0 Hour looks intriguing and of course... SMASH. J-HUD is in the cast this season!

One weekend when nothing is happening, I will have to sit down and catch up on "Once" on Netflix.

Zero Hour? I've not heard of that one.

Zero hour is like a mash up of National Treasure and DaVinci Code. It seems really interesting.
