Post-Comic Malaise & Other Toonage

Thanks for all the compliments yesterday on Grizzly & The Bear Patrol #6. I really enjoy the feedback (and even criticism, though there wasn't much of that). If any of you haven't read the latest issue, you can catch it here.
If anybody has any questions about the issue, let me know. I often get feedback on the art, but I'd be curious about the story. I admit I don't focus as much on writing as I do the artwork.
I'm suffering from a bit of post-issue malaise. I spend so much time getting the comic finished and getting it posted, that after it's done I'm not sure what to do with myself. The excitement is over and things slowly get back to whatever is normal for me. Of course, until the next issue starts forming in my head, which is likely to be soon, but the body needs the break.
I do have a chance to catch up on my other cartoon requests. I've been chatting with a handsome devil in Chile named Antonio. He is an artist, but works more with physical materials and sculpture than drawing. He asked me a couple of weeks back to draw him as a hero a with Roman gladiator type theme. Who am I to turn down a beautiful man's request?
After issue #6 was done Friday, I spent a little time Saturday night drawing and came up with this draft of his hero. I don't have a name for him yet. Antonio seems to like it and wants to work together on design changes and final look, which is great. Who knows, maybe he'll turn up in a future issue.

Date: 2011-10-05 12:09 am (UTC)I am going through the same thing now that Art Prize is wrapping up. The urgency, the deadlines, etc are all gone. Now, I just need to wait for my friend to deliver the artwork back to Jackson and it's all done.
Sad? Kind of. Relieved? YES!
I have not had a chance to review the post, but will later tonight or tomorrow.

Date: 2011-10-05 01:04 am (UTC)It's strange how I want to leap into another issue, but I know I just don't have the creative energy right now.

Date: 2011-10-05 01:15 am (UTC)The stories are a bit campy and satirical, which I'm also really enjoying. #6's villain, the Arcade-like Gaymer, is a perfect example.
Really well done, my friend.
Hm, I should send you my Superhero S&M novelette...

Date: 2011-10-05 11:25 am (UTC)As for the themes of my comics, well... I try not to take them too seriously. It's supposed to be fun. And I adore the Gaymer, and the guy he's based on.
Novelette, did you say? :)

Date: 2011-10-05 03:14 am (UTC)Just today I was googling another Antonio, a really famous fashion illustrator-artist of the 1970's & '80's, known for his colorful break-out style. His last name was Lopez, but his signature was simply his first name ...maybe that name tends to attract artistic talent ;0)

Date: 2011-10-05 11:27 am (UTC)The name Antonio just seems to create an image in my mind of an amazingly attractive guy and it does sound like an artistic name, doesn't it?
Not that Mark and Joe doesn't :)
