Where do the weekends go? I napped quite a bit this weekend and I still woke up feeling pretty tired today. Sigh... At least the snow is vanishing, which is a good thing for this area. It'll be 60 degrees today, a veritable heat wave considering what we've endured lately.

Saturday, Brian ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub) and I caught a morning showing of "He's Just Not That Into You" at the Levee, where there was also a Polar Bear Plunge charity event going on. We opted for the movie, which I have to say I left me unimpressed. With my being single, I think it resonated some pretty negative feelings for me, but I don't think it was that great a movie either. The previews I think made it out to be funnier than it was.

Last night, I did a super-powered bear toon based very loosely on the biker character from that "Midnight Movie" post from last week. I put it behind the cut for the uninterested, but it is work-safe.

Titan
Titan

Titan has the ability to draw mass from the Earth to increase his size and strength. I haven't decided on whether he is hero or villain, but leaning toward hero.

I looked at it again this morning and my only complaint is that he came across looking a bit too much like the Ultimate Thor. I wonder if a change in costume colors would fix that a bit. Opinions?

Of course the trailers for He's Just Not That Into You made the film seem funnier than it was. That's marketing for ya. But I keep http://www.rottentomatoes.com bookmarked for such occasions. I can look over various capsule reviews and decide if a movie is going to be my cup of tea, since I have a pretty good idea what different reviewers look for in films.

At only 43% positive, He's Just Not That Into You has been getting tepid reviews at best.

On a separate issue ... I did finally get to see My Bloody Valentine, my very first 3-D movie. I was impressed how well the polarized glasses worked, but I'm not sure I'd always be willing to shell out an extra 2-3 bucks per film just for the 3-D effect. It would have be a damned good movie. This one was OK, 6 out of 10 stars.

I loved My Bloody Valentine in 3-D, but I agree that making you pay extra seems unfair, but I suppose that the glasses have to be paid for somehow. I did like that they changed things from the original at the end though, a very nice twist for me, being a fan of the original.

I'm really digging the finer lines you used for Titan's design.
Very nice!

Thank you, kind sir :)

Inking is not my strong suit, something I definitely need to work on.

Nonsense, your colouring looks great. I really liked how you did his long hair and furry chest.

I think it's the glowing belt buckle and the blue hues.

maybe if you went with more greens and earth tones and lost or re-designed the belt??

I dunno.

I was thinking the same thing, that the blue tones might be big part of it. I wonder if I re-did the arms sleeves, boots, and belt in a gold, metallic look and put him in dark green togs if the look might change considerably.

Of course a gold belt might make him look like a WWF wrestler...

LOL... strangely, I was thinking something from Scissor Sisters after posting it... :D

Maybe he needs more of a redesign...

I like the boots and matching arm bracelets. He does looks a little like Thor, but its probably the hair. Cropped short and maybe a slightly different color would fix that...?

Ah, he does have that look, but I think a change in color is needed too. Since his powers are earth-related, earth tones would be more appropriate.

... and I like the long hair for some reason. After years of drawing female superheroes long tresses, I've been drawing mostly men of late and forgotten how much I love a sweeping mane!

I like it! And you know, I like the blue and grey color scheme. :)

LOL.. thanks! I think the toon will stay, but the colors will change. I'll save the blue and the grey for you! :D

Despite the mediocrity of the movie, it was good to see you as always!

BTW I left my beverage container at Bar Louie! Sad panda!

It was great to hang with you as well! We need to do that more often.

Ouch... I didn't even realize you weren't carrying the container when we left. Can you call them and see if they still have it?

rather impressive

As a quiet observer of your postings, I'd have to say that this one is probably the more technical/professional renderings from what I've seen. Quite the imposing 'daddy' comic hero. ;) Good job!

Well, thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll be recoloring this one tonight I think.
