I'm finally at work for the first time in nearly a week. It took a lot of effort to drag myself in here today, but so far so good. The coughing fits have almost stopped, which is a good sign.

During the last few days, I have been watching a lot of TV Land and Hallmark Channel, finding myself enthralled by, of all things, The Waltons. This show started just before I was born and I admit I found it too dull to watch as young kid. While chatting with a local friend, I brought this up yesterday. He laughed and said it couldn't compete with Little House on the Prairie. A fun discussion ensued after that. Though I watched Little House as a kid, I thought The Waltons was actually better written and more realistic. The whole town could burn down in Walnut Grove and everyone would be smiling at the end, where everyone on Walton's Mountain may be in bed that night, but the lesson wasn't always so rosy.

So being somewhat of a fan of 1970's TV, I created a poll for fun. It's behind the cut to save space. Commentary is always welcome :)

I hated Little House! Supposidly it was inspired by events that took place in Kansas & Oklahoma, so being from Kansas all the girls in my third grade class read the books like rabid starving hyenas and reinacted scenes from the book/TV show on the playground every day. I, of course, was in to much more sophisticated, cutting edge entertainment like Star Wars. And NO, R2-D2 would most certainly NOT have been called Half-pint. He would have left Laura Ingles to get killed by Stormtroopers when they came to Luke's house on Tatooni. And they didn't have half-pints in the galaxy far, far away... DUH.

The only reason I voted for it was because in later seasons there was a handsome, daddy bear with a gravely voice and big bushy beard that I had the hots for as a kid. And that was before I knew why I was attracted to him.

Oh you mean Victor French who plays Isaiah Edwards? Oh yeah, he was quite the growling daddy bear! I used to love watching him and Merlin Olsen (former football player) who played Jonathan Garvey, he was quite the big, strapping, bearded bear :)

Yeah they were both hot! And Hoss from Bonanza and Grizzley Adams! The 70s were a good time for bears on TV.

Where are all the big, burly strapping bears in today's TV?

Sadly, the majority of guys on TV are shaving their chest hair in an attempt at looking younger I think. Just look at my object of lust Jeremy Piven! I know for a fact he's more furry than an orangutaun (I cite his role in Very Bad Things as evidence). However, in his role on "Entourage" (which I don't really watch), his chest is smooth...

I think there needs to be a bear revival on TV.
