The Character Bank
Jan. 22nd, 2015 09:39 pmWork has been hectic this week, which has made the week practically fly by. Still, I took a little time to do some drawing this week to relax.
I posted about Dial "H" for Hero characters before. Sometimes while watching a movie or on my drive home from work, an idea for a new character will appear in my head. Usually it involves a cool name or a cool power and the development starts from there.

The Human Shield and Circa
While I watching "American Sniper" over the weekend with the local moviebears, the idea popped into my head to have a character called "The Human Shield," a hero with the power of invulnerability or to generate an impenetrable force field around himself. As such, he could wear a relatively revealing costume and have an odd bravado because he couldn't be hurt. So last night, I sat down and drew these characters out while catching up on my DVR.
The female character is called "Circa." I've also thought it was such a cool word and it would be a neat name for a heroine. The problem is trying to define her power. Circa means "almost" or "about" and is usually used as an adjective regarding time, such as Circa 1970 or Circa 100 B.C. So would she have the ability to move through time? Or maybe she could control time, making it faster or slower?
These are likely not characters who will appear in my comic book anytime soon, but it's good to have them in a file in case I need them. I think I've decided to create "The Character Bank," a place to put these characters for future development.
