A Superfriends Find
Jul. 10th, 2013 09:41 pmSo before I went to softball yesterday, I decided to stop at Target and look for a DVD set I saw online. They released "The World's Greatest SuperFriends" on DVD. Amazon has it listed for $34, but you can get it at Target for $10, not sure what is going on there.
I have always loved the Super-Friends. It was my first exposure to DC superheroes as a kid, even before comic books. As a little kid, I even liked the first season with Marvin, Wendy, and Wonder Dog, although as an adult I cringe at how bad they are. It seemed like the writing and animation improved significantly with the addition of the Wonder Twins, even though I know Gleek rubs people the wrong way.
This "World's Greatest..." season was one of my favorites. These episodes are darker in some ways with demonic villains, an evil Superman with thick mascara, and even Frankenstein's monster. One of the scariest things on the DVD may actually be Gleek performing in harem drag.
