I didn't want to leave as I wanted to get my vote done, so I stuck around. I turned off the car at 5:30 AM and walked into the Catholic School/Church where I vote. I never have enjoyed this idea, voting in a church, as the influence of religion in past Presidential votes is obvious and I feel it does have some effect. I fought hard against the posters of the current Sith... er, Pope, who tried in vain to possess my soul as I stood inside.
I started a trend though. More people drove up and came inside and by the time the polls opened at 6 AM, I found myself standing at the front of the line with more than 40 people behind me. I walked in, showed ID, signed in, walked behind the curtain and cast the ballot. Obama, of course, as my momma may have raised a fool or two, but ah am not one of them.
It truly is one of the few activities that really says, "You are an adult!" And this election, either way it goes, is going to be historic. If you voted for Obama, you've helped elect the first African-American President of the US. If you voted for McCain, then you could be one of those aforementioned fools. No one's momma is perfect.
While most will be glued to the television tonight, desperately awaiting each return, I'll be watching some goofy horror movie, chatting online, or perhaps drawing something erotic and/or superheroic. Political commentary and over-dramatized discussions with voters are not my cup of tea. I've done my part for history and I don't have to sit on the edge of my seat for it to unfold.
