I Voted

Bearded Me and My StickerI tried my best to go to bed early last night. The drive home from work yesterday had nothing but news about the record turnout for voting today and how there will be lines, lines, and lines. So, I got up at 4:30 AM this morning, got ready and was at my polling location at 5:15 AM, thinking I would see a line similar to that of a gaggle of gays trying to score Margaret Cho tickets or to get into Best Buy the morning of Thanksgiving. There was no line.

I didn't want to leave as I wanted to get my vote done, so I stuck around. I turned off the car at 5:30 AM and walked into the Catholic School/Church where I vote. I never have enjoyed this idea, voting in a church, as the influence of religion in past Presidential votes is obvious and I feel it does have some effect. I fought hard against the posters of the current Sith... er, Pope, who tried in vain to possess my soul as I stood inside.

I started a trend though. More people drove up and came inside and by the time the polls opened at 6 AM, I found myself standing at the front of the line with more than 40 people behind me. I walked in, showed ID, signed in, walked behind the curtain and cast the ballot. Obama, of course, as my momma may have raised a fool or two, but ah am not one of them.

It truly is one of the few activities that really says, "You are an adult!" And this election, either way it goes, is going to be historic. If you voted for Obama, you've helped elect the first African-American President of the US. If you voted for McCain, then you could be one of those aforementioned fools. No one's momma is perfect.

While most will be glued to the television tonight, desperately awaiting each return, I'll be watching some goofy horror movie, chatting online, or perhaps drawing something erotic and/or superheroic. Political commentary and over-dramatized discussions with voters are not my cup of tea. I've done my part for history and I don't have to sit on the edge of my seat for it to unfold.

I am with ya....I voted and now will casually check the progress here and there....but no way am I going to stalk the news for every teeny update.

If you get bored you could always post the erotic pics (or half-naked pics of yourself) here....or just send them to me. Whichever is most convenient. : D

I voted in a church today too.
However, I had to wait in line for an hour and a half.

They had volunteers from the church helping with "crowd control". (Basically handing out coffee and cookies)

But I did have a problem when one of them started talking about "Being saved by Jesus". Several people around me shouted a few Amens and I felt like I was in the middle of a revival.

Luckily, it was a short revival.

I voted for the first time today! For Obama of course! i have been glued to the computer though watching the results unfold...I think part of that could be that i have a test that I'm procrastinating on studying for as well, but anyway...let's hope people are smart enough to not put McCain in office to risk Palin becoming president if he dies...
