Just a quick update on a couple of movies I've seen. I'll post something more substantial later.

Disturbia and Vacancy Behind the Cut )

Did I enjoy the movies? Yes, I liked both of them.
Would I watch them again? Probably Vacancy again.
Buy the DVD's? Probably Vacancy

Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in Hot Fuzz

After work today, I decided to head for a matinee of Hot Fuzz. I've been waiting for quite a while for this movie to come out as it was released in Britain two months ago and had gotten great reviews. I'm also a big Shaun of the Dead fan and knew I would enjoy this one too.

Simon Pegg stars as Sgt. Angel who is the best police officer the London police service has, doing 400% better than his co-workers, making them look bad in comparison. The higher-ups transfer him from the rough streets of London to a countryside village with no crime. He is frustrated with the move and bored with the work until a series of murders disguised as accidents begin to occur. He solely sees them for what they are as the local constabulary can't fathom the deaths are more than accidents. Finally, there are some neat twists revealing the killer and some nice action (and funny) scenes at the end.

I enjoyed the movie a lot and the theater wasn't crowded, the latter of which may be due to matinee timing or the fact it's a British import. I'm not sure, but I agree with [livejournal.com profile] prisonbitch that it was a lot of fun.

Did I enjoy the movie? Very much.
Would I see it again? I just might this weekend.
Buy the DVD? Oh yeah :)

I haven't posted much lately, not much worthy of the effort I guess of late. Here are a few positive moments from the last week or so. I'll deal with the negative ones myself.

  • Netflix is working out well. So far, only one of the three I've rented have been that good, but it's good to rent them and find them out then buying them to find that out. I'm impressed so far with the turn-around time too.
  • Lots of work-related eye candy this week. There will be an inspired (potentially NWS) cartoon later. :)
  • I got a $100 award at work this week in the form of a gift card. I need to spend it soon as it has an expiry. I've been thinking about buying the DVD's of Star Trek: Voyager, so this would get me started. I wonder just what season I should start with. I saw a YouTube video of the two days worth of scenes that were filmed with Genevieve Bujold in the role of Captain Janeway before she quit. The show really dodged a bullet with that one, as she was terrible. The two videos are here and here for those interested.
  • Softball starts up again this Monday night. I really enjoyed playing last year, so I'm glad the next season is here. The Titans (my team) plays the 9 PM game. Details (directions, schedules, etc.) for interested parties are on the website.
