Comics, Dinner, Bars, and a Canadian

It was a busy, but fun weekend.
Friday, I met up with
nonljeric, Sean, and a visiting
jprtoronto from Toronto for dinner at Chez Nora on Mainstrasse in Covington, KY. The food was pretty good and it was a great night to eat outside and the guy who kept clearing our plates was a cute little furry guy. After dinner we went walking around during the Gallery Hop on Mainstrasse, which was small and a lot of the artwork was not that appealing. Afterward, we went to Shooters where we got a disturbing proposition from an ugly drag queen and then surprised
cincycub,
_decibel_, Derek's sweetie Chris, and a visiting
beeftenderloin by showing up at Hamberger Mary's for drinks. I got cruised by a cute, muscular daddy type who was passing through on his way to Detroit and found a stranger's debit card on my walk back to my car. The daddy vanished before I left and I called the card owner when I got home and mailed the card back to him Saturday.
Saturday morning, John and I went to lunch at the Pub and hit the comic book stores. I never realized how much more comics were in Canada. John also got to meet the creepy comic book guy I had posted about. I drove John around to see some oddities of northern KY. He has pictures, so I'll let him tell you about them. Afterward, we went to the Levee and caught a movie followed by a trip across the Purple People Bridge :)

The movie was good, lots of background gags to pay attention to, but I think John and I both agreed that it's not one we'd watch over and over again or buy.
Saturday night was dinner at Red Robin with the crew, followed by TV watching at Sean's house, and then a trip to the Serpent, the local leather bar. It was a fun time, got to see cutie Paul the bartender and a few other familiar faces. I never thought that I would close a bar.
I got home to a completely dark house. For some reason the power was out. Luckily I know where I put the candles in the house. I was exhausted and slept through the storm that passed through. Thankfully the power was back on when I woke up earlier this afternoon.
Okay, now I'm tired and I'm hitting the bed early tonight. I hope John had a good time, and I look forward to the pictures :)

Date: 2005-11-07 11:50 pm (UTC)i think it's the only theater in the city that has it in 3-d!
and only on 1 screen
the 3-d is absolutely amazing
there's not only things popping off the screen
but the background had depth too
ebert & roeper both hated it
but they never said which version they saw
