kybearfuzzIn typical fashion for the weekend, I went to the movies. I have to admit that DOOM was much better than I expected. I have never played the video game, so I had no expectations beyond it being a sci-fi/monster/action flick. I will say that the Rock will certainly never win an Academy Award, but then this movie wasn't exactly Shakespeare. The storyline was good, if not quick, and the monsters were very impressive and very gory. The movie even throws in a naked breast, not really integral to the plot, but ensuring that "R" rating.
Overall, I liked the movie, despite the occasional unwanted play-by-play spoken by the boorish idiot sitting behind me wearing a dark trenchcoat and sock and sandals. Oh how I would have loved to have shoved my popcorn bag in his mouth and threaten him to mumble another word.
On the way home, I caught a glimpse of this beautiful tree, the leaves have turned a brilliant reddish-orange. I had to stop and get a photo. According to my mom, it is a sugar maple. I'd love to have one in my yard.
