kybearfuzz: (Movie Buff)

In typical fashion for the weekend, I went to the movies. I have to admit that DOOM was much better than I expected. I have never played the video game, so I had no expectations beyond it being a sci-fi/monster/action flick. I will say that the Rock will certainly never win an Academy Award, but then this movie wasn't exactly Shakespeare. The storyline was good, if not quick, and the monsters were very impressive and very gory. The movie even throws in a naked breast, not really integral to the plot, but ensuring that "R" rating.

A Doom-ed Chorus Line

Overall, I liked the movie, despite the occasional unwanted play-by-play spoken by the boorish idiot sitting behind me wearing a dark trenchcoat and sock and sandals. Oh how I would have loved to have shoved my popcorn bag in his mouth and threaten him to mumble another word.

On the way home, I caught a glimpse of this beautiful tree, the leaves have turned a brilliant reddish-orange. I had to stop and get a photo. According to my mom, it is a sugar maple. I'd love to have one in my yard.

Fiery leaves...</center?

Sugar maples abound in New Hampshire and Vermont, as you know. We get a *lot* of this kind of color back where I come from. That and brilliant reds and purples. Sigh!

Maples are, indeed, beautiful in the fall. But look out! Their roots are quite destructive. You will need to plant it well away from the house so the roots don't screw with the foundation or the pipes leading from your house. :)

The tree at the bottom of our yard is starting to turn that way. Don't know if it's the same kind of tree, but it sure is pretty. I love fall!!!

That's beautiful. We've had such an odd fall here in Richmond. Even now none of the trees have turned except for the beautiful maples. Very strange indeed.

Doom was Doomed

Im glad you liked the movie, I ve never played the game either and thought the movie was allmost a de ja vu of Resident Evil. Lets say it lacked excitement, but had all the elements to make an exciting movie. ANd the Rock looks good, but that about it, looking forward to Saw 2 this weekend to cure my horror needs. ;)
