Marvel's Jessica Jones

After the Thanksgiving holiday week, I spent a lot of time catching up on my DVR. One of the perks of this time of year is that a lot of series are hitting their mid-season finales, which frees up a lot of time from TV to watch other things.

I went through my Netflix and finally decided to watch Jessica Jones, after reading rave reviews by various folks on Facebook. I hadn't read the comic book, but I was familiar with the character and I could see it would make for a great series.

Admittedly, I was hooked after the first episode. Krysten Ritter plays the damaged superhero/private investigator really well. She comes across as tough, but cautious; caustic, but vulnerable. The supporting cast is just as good. David Tennant as Kilgrave (the Purple Man from the comics) is especially villianous.

The first season only has 13 episodes and I've been trying to meter out my watching of them. I have three episodes left and I'll probably go through those this weekend.

With this series being so good, I am now planning on watching the Netflix "Daredevil" series next, as I've heard good things about that one too.

Have you watched Supergirl? It's not great but it is good.

I watched the first episode and was kinda "meh" about it. I may give it another shot :)

Supergirl is growing on me. It's one of those ones that could go either way still. It needs *something* but I'm not sure what. They are making some of the characters a bit less one dimensional (Cat Grant comes to mind) and that is helping quite a bit. I still don't like their version of Jimmy Olson. I don't have issue with him being black but I just don't like the personality they have given him. He's too confident and grown up. I think Kara's other buddy, ummm the young geeky guy, seems much more Jimmy Olson-like.

Bringing Martian Manhunter into the mix was kind of brilliant though :)

My tv time has been limited as of late, but I managed to whiz through JJ fairly quickly. And that was trying to measure watching the series! The finale was awesome, and I'm certain you'll love it if you've been loving the series so far. Luke Cage, le siiiiiigh.

"Daredevil" is also quite good, with a phenomenal performance from Vincent D'Onofrio, but I think the series isn't quite as good as JJ. I watched that right before I watched "Sense8," which is... like a weird acid trip (in a good way). Which I watched before the final (and extremely disappointing) season of "Continuum".

Have you been watching "Orphan Black"? If none of these other shows... You would love that one.

I've been watching "The 100" here and there when I have time (the first two seasons are on Netflix). Its kind of crazy weird, has that "Lost" vibe to it at times,

Another that is of varying goodness is "Person of Interest"- but I haven't seen the fourth season yet. (The fifth and final season is supposed to air in the spring.)

I assume you've watched "Dark Matter" and "Killjoys" over the summer. I did check out the pilot episode for "The Expanse"... which I don't know how I feel about it. I'll revisit that when the first season airs.

LOL! Sadly, I haven't watched any of the other series you listed, but I'm adding some of them to my queue.

And yes, Luke Cage, is swoon-inducing.

Orphan Black is AWESOME!!! though the first few episodes of last season (are they on 3 or 4?) were a little meh. thankfully it picked back up again as they moved through. I can't wait for it to come back this spring.

I'm pretty maxed out on shows. I'd like to watch Jessica Jones and Daredevil but just haven't got the time to dedicate to them. I may try to do them during off TV season, though even that seems to be less a thing and more filled with "summer only" series anymore.
