I went to work extremely early this morning in an effort to get out early today. My goal was stop by Home Depot, buy some quick set concrete, and finish the new mailbox installation. However, I just could not concentrate at work. I hate leaving a half-done project sitting and in this case I can't. Mail has to have a mailbox. So I put out the major fires at work and bailed at lunch time. I got my concrete, made it home and into grubby clothes, and set to work.

Thankfully, my nosy neighbor kept his distance until after I got the concrete in place and started assembling the mailbox. The end result is pretty good, and I'm happy with it. I want a double-punch in my butch card for this.

Mailboxes before and after

While I was assembling the box, the mailman showed up and delivered the mail, commenting that the box was the right height and he was happy about that. My old one was short apparently. In my mail was a letter from QuikStop. The letter was short and sweet, thanking me for my input and apologizing for my less-than-stellar experience. Included in the letter was a $50 gift card to QuikStop. I appreciate the gesture, but I very strictly remember telling him I didn't want any free stuff and I'm not terribly happy with the idea of using them again. I'm half-tempted to send it back to them, refusing it on principle.

The weekend has started, so I'm happy. Happy Friday!

Hey! The new mailbox is awesome!

You did a terrific job there! You were also good about setting it the right height, too!

I would just send the QuikStop coupon back to them, no note attached, just send the thing back.

Have a great weekend!

Ps-I don't feel comfortable having a project half-done, either, especially something as important as setting up a mailbox.

If it was something that could easily wait a couple of days, like replacing a faucet on a sink, then I probably wouldn't be so apprehensive. A mailbox is a necessity if you want mail, so I had no choice.
