kybearfuzz: (Pride Purple 2013)

Whew. What a day. After a morning run and lunch, I drove to Newport, had a coffee, then walked the Purple People Bridge to Cincinnati to see the 2013 Cincinnati Pride Parade. The rain fell and slowed things a bit, but the good thing was that we didn't bake like last year. The rain stopped, except for the occasional sprinkling. As usual, I took a lot of pics. There was a lot to see -- lots of support, lots of hotness, lots of oddities (in a good way), and lots of friends. I ran into folks I'd not seen in a while as well as friends from the bar, softball, the movie bears, etc.

I wore my new 2013 Pride shirt and received multiple compliments. A couple of friends have already asked for copies of the toon for shirts. I got my annual HIV test (negative) and was handed condoms and more condoms from multiple sources. I wish I had the sex life these folks believe I apparently have.

The day culminated in a concert by Debbie Gibson who has maintained her voice, her figure, and her dance moves. Click on Debbie below to see the photo set.

Despite the good time, I left the concert a bit early. After sweating all day and being rained on several times, I was worn out. I wanted to get home, shower, and crash. It's been a great day.

Happy Pride Weekend ;)

:) that is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about... it's been 2 or 3 years but I totally remember her doing Proud Mary and being very impressed. Her voice truly has matured from her bubblegum pop. It's great that she makes a living off of singing those old songs but it's too bad she never made a really big name for herself aside from those. She definitely has the talent.

I've noticed with a lot of older artists they have to change the arrangement or notes in songs of theirs because their voice has matured over the years. Bette Midler is one of those. At the last concert I went to I really noticed some differences in songs especially Wind beneath my Wings. It was still wonderful, just after hearing a song for 30 years it throws me off when the singer goes low on a high note or something LOL
