While most everyone was watching the Presidential debate last night, I skipped it. I never have been one for watching the actual debate, but just wait to catch the highlights the next day.

Instead, I watched AMC's "Friday the 13th" marathon. Oh how I love a dated horror movie (no cell phones! In fact one camp counselor in the first movie asked another if he had a dime so she could call the police... love it). Last night, I saw parts 2 and 3 and a good chunk of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.

"The Final Chapter" was the first Friday the 13th I ever got to watch in the theater. I was 11 years old and the guy at the ticket counter NEVER checked ages. My sibs and I had managed to watch the first three thanks to HBO and video rental. Now that I'm nearly 40, I look back and ask myself why my parents let us go to an R rated movie, but I think they were just happy to be kid-free for two hours.

"The Final Chapter" was also the one with the most nudity of the franchise apparently. There were a couple of burly, furry guys in the movie. One was killed by a harpoon to the groin, showing how inventive Jason was getting.

Oddly enough, in my opinion, "The Final Chapter" should have been the last one. While I enjoy the bad shlock that came after this one, the quality dropped significantly (which is saying quite a bit). I mean, Corey Feldman killed Jason at the end of it, and the ones after were worse?? Heh.

Happy Hump Day all...

Did you catch the F13th remake that came out a couple years ago? I had it on (when I had Netflix Streaming) and was so excruciatingly bored within 20 minutes that I turned it off. Rumor has it that there's a sequel to that in the works again.

Had on Friday the 13th- not sure which chapter it was, Part II, I think-- for a few minutes last night. There was a guy who got caught in a rope and was dangling by his feet. "Well, I know who's about to die." I said, just before I turned on the main treat for the night, a rewatch of the gay-themed film Ciao.

I know not a lot of people liked it- and its not GREAT cinema, but I find something new every time I see it.

I did watch the remake. Overall, I didn't think it was so bad. It tried to explain a lot of things, but overall I think it was too much in one movie. The beauty of the original first F13 was that you didn't know who the killer was. That whole story was basically cut to a snipet and I think that backstory was important. I'm not surprised there is sequel in the mix. Horror movies are usually relatively cheap to write/make and they usually make their money back.

And that was part 2 you watched. I saw that scene myself. It was like we were watching a movie together ;)

Ciao is in my Netflix queue. I just haven't gotten to it yet. :)
