Well, I made it down to the train station where I was surrounded by teeny-bopper Brittany wannabees. When I checked the train schedule, it seemed like several connections may be needed and the clerk was little help. Admist the frustration, irritation, and growing nervousness of getting lost, my adventurous bravado deflated and I elected to stay right the hell where I was. Grrrr.... I hate that!
I think I'm going to suggest that the powers-that-be try to schedule travelers together in some cities so you're not stuck trying to be tourist alone. I know it will do absolutely no good, but strangely enough it does happen on occasion. Oh well, one more day and off to Italy.
Actually did some more walking around Ware and found the walking path next to the River Lea that connects eventually to the Thames. Saw some interesting scenery and saw my first lock. Now for those who don't know, they's are the areas where boats can travel down the river from the dammed areas. Boats go into the lock from the higher dam level and the doors are shut behind them. The water inside is drained until it is at the level of the next part of the river and is then opened up to allow the boat through. Okay, no more science lessons.
Ventured into the Ware Museum, saw some local history, took some pictures, bought some postcards. Still hasn't improved my mood. Ugh! Tomorrow will be better.
