I've had this character looming in the sketchpad for some time, but just haven't had the chance to ink and color it. I finally managed to get it done last night. It's the superhero cartoon character of Chris ([livejournal.com profile] kybigstew).

The Flying Scotsman
The Flying Scotsman

I wanted a hero with fire/solar powers and coming up with a name was hard. I didn't want it to be "Flaming" anything. A Google search came up The Flying Scotsman on Wikipedia and I thought the name was a good match.

I've got two more characters in the works and then it might be time to start writing the next Bear Patrol comic issue.

I'm not surprised that he'd fly that way! I'm sure the breeze feels good :)

I'm glad you like it! I am sure you would enjoy flying over crowds shocking them with the view ;)

You are coming up with a great cast of characters.

Keep in mind a rule by William Ware Theis, who was the costume designer for the original "Star Trek": A costume is sexy when it threatens to reveal something, but doesn't. From what you've shown in this preliminary drawing, you have a firm grasp of the concept.

Heh! Thanks! When I started drawing the comic book, I wanted to keep the content pretty much "PG-13"-ish, so I may hint at a lot of things, but hints are good enough.

And I agree with Mr. Theis' statement. The imagination filling in the blanks of what is so close to a reveal is often better than the reality.

There should be a running gag of him always flying overhead and somehow you never quite get to see up his kilt. That, and looks of shock from people below. lol.
