Happy Hump Day everyone! Thank heavens we're at the half-way mark, this week has been SLOW...

Red Sweater VestAs I was getting dressed for work this morning, I looked in the mirror and thought, "I've seen this look somewhere before."

I've not worn this sweater vest for a long time because it used to be a bit tight on me and now seems to fit me much better.

About half-way to work, it dawned on me. I'm dressed like Clark Kent from the old Superboy comic books.

There are worse people to mimic, I suppose. Clark always wore a red sweater, white shirt, and blue pants. Almost exclusively. I suspect that Mrs. Kent must have found a sale on them in Smallville, perhaps at the local Sears & Roebuck (look it up on Wikipedia, you younger folks).

I doubt I'll be dodging any bullets today, but will be dodging requests to do someone else's job. In many ways, it's harder and more dangerous.

Try to avoid people willing to throw themselves in harm's way to get you to reveal your secret identity.

Trust me, I may dress like a hero, but I'm not feeling like saving anyone today. :)

*grins*

Perhaps, Woolworths?

Superboy matured quite nicely - quite dashing indeed.

No, she made all his clothes, including his costume, from the blankets in his spaceship. I guess she used green kryptonite to make it possible to cut and sew. But somehow it managed to be a heck of a lot of cloth... :)

I know that Mrs. Kent made his costumes, but I got the impression all of his secret identity clothes were the same as yours or mine. There are a lof of examples of them getting torn or stained in the comics.

Hm, I remembered differently. But I could be mistaken. If they got torn he'd have to hide the costume underneath -- that does sound familiar.

As I recall, Mrs Kent knit the costume from the blankets. Clark cut any excess yarn with his heat vision. The material was very elastic, so that it "grew" with him. His boots were made from the interior lining of the spacecraft. His civilian clothes were always standard store-bought stuff.

In the 80s-90s reboot, Clark noted that any snug-fitting clothes never tore or got dirty due to his Kryptonian "aura". This meant that his costume could be made from Earthly materials and remain intact, but his cape would often get shredded.

Filling out that sweater nicely!

To dodge those bullets, you'll need your magic bracelets! ka-piiiing!

I think you have me confused with another superhero. LOL... though I worry I could fill out her costume too! :)

Now, you should draw yourself as Superman:) (You're a superhero to many of us anyway:)

Awwww.. hugs!

You know, I don't recall playing Superman as a kid. While I think his powers are cool, he always seemed to be able to do anything. I think a hero needs to be a little more vulnerable.

Personally I'd see you more as Batman, anyhow.

But really, such a handsome photo, I'm swooning here!

Does this mean that you rip your shirt off in a phone booth?
If you do, please let me know beforehand. :)

LOL... I don't think Superman actually rips his shirts off, though it would make for an awesome image :)

Don't you remember? At least in the original series, Clark runs to a phone booth, takes off his hat and glasses and then parts his shirt showing the S.

Are you faster than a speeding memo?
More powerful than a copier?
Can you leap tall curbstones in a single bound?

Just asking! :)
