Mondays Suck
Feb. 6th, 2012 08:09 amOh, where oh where did the weekend go...?
It's hell getting old. I can't even remember what I did Friday after getting my haircut after work. It's just a blur. I think I went for run. Yeah, that's it.
Saturday, the guys and I went to see The Woman in Black. I thought it was a good movie, but kinda slow in the beginning. It definitely had some startling moments that made me jump, which I loved. There were a few plot holes here and there, but overall it was a satisfying movie. I watched the whole thing and never once thought of Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, so I believe this is a step forward for him.
Sunday was working out, laundry, cleaning house, etc. I didn't watch the Super Bowl, as I just wasn't that interested. Instead, I watched Paul on DVD and several episode of "Ab Fab" on BBC America. While watching Patsy and Eddie flounder about, I broke out the sketchbook for this cartoon. I'm not sure why, but I always love seeing Grizzly in the "Barmaid" tee-shirt.
Happy Monday, all y'all... if that's possible.

Date: 2012-02-07 03:49 am (UTC)I'm keen to see The Woman in Black...I've read a couple of early, good reviews here so will book tickets when it does open.
Tonight we're off to see Chronicle which I'm really looking forward to - apparently it's getting some excellent reviews so a little bit excited!

Date: 2012-02-07 09:29 pm (UTC)It was brilliant. I'd read a few reviews that said it was a sleeper hit but I wasn't expecting them to be true to their word. It really was a huge thrill from the moment they discover their powers through to the final climactic ending. Just when you thought it would slow down a touch so the audience could catch its breath, it pulled an even bigger punch and carried on moving until the next development. I'm trying to be deliberately vague because the trailer sets the premise up and hints at a few big scenes but it overdelivers on the trailer - a remarkable debut film for its 26yr old director.
I can now see why Fox are eyeing him to reboot the Fantastic Four franchise.
One piece of advice...see it on the biggest screen you can...if only for the scene when the lads learn how to levitate. Most other films with 10 times the budget (I believe it was made for $15m) can't pull of a scene this good.
