The Memorial Day Wrap Up
May. 30th, 2011 12:20 pmIt's been a great weekend, but very hectic and busy. This is long, with photos (include one shirtless pic of me), so I put it behind the cut.
Saturday I met up with a visiting Canadian chat buddy named Ken. He was staying downtown, so I met him at his hotel and we went walking through the "Taste of Cincinnati" festival on the downtown square and beyond. It was wall-to-wall people. I've never seen so many tattooed breasts in my life. I wanted him to try as much of the local stuff as possible, so we hit Graeter's ice cream and LaRosa's pizza. I tried to find a goetta booth, but couldn't. After a swim at the hotel pool, we went out to grab dinner at Skyline Chili. He liked it, enjoying a five-way. So I feel I hit at least the major Cincy food stuffs.
I slept in late on Sunday, but got up to get in a good outdoor run before it got too hot. Someone had my usual track occupied, so I went to a local park. I hate running outdoors with my shirt on when it's so sunny. I would rather not have a farmer's tan. It was earlier enough that the park wasn't so full, so I got a good three miles in. I need to work on my pecs more, I see. However, I did see a very muscular daddy bear walking the track shirtless too. Yay!
I picked up Ken from his tennis tournament later. We went to Newport on the Levee for lunch at the Irish pub then walked around. I showed him the Purple People Bridge, the statue of Cincinnatus, and the Flying Pig statue.
Back in the Levee proper, we walked to the different shops and saw the "House of Brows" which was closed. I can't imagine it draws a crowd and I expect it'll disappear soon. The price list is impressive though. I can't imagine how much they'd charge to do a guy as hairy as me. Not that I'd EVER do such a thing.
I had a calm evening and slept in a bit this morning. Before I jumped into my usual P90X workout, I caught sight of this young buck out my office window. He still has the velvet on his horns and all I could think is that he needs to stay away from my car, after last month's kamikaze deer debacle. What was funny was Maggie the Cat's reaction. She popped herself into the window and her tail started twitching, like she was hunting.
I said to her, "Honey, I admire your gumption, but I think this might be too much for you to take down." I only wish I'd gotten a photo of it.
