It certainly is a strange feeling, to feel guilty about skipping exercise.

I ended up working late yesterday, finding some things didn't get done exactly rightn and having to find ways to fix it. Today on the P90X schedule was Yoga. While I like the idea of increasing my flexibility, I have to admit that I don't like the yoga program. It takes alot of effort to maintain proper form and hold it. It makes me sweat. These are the things I like about it.

What I don't like is that it is so ... static. While it instructs me to move from position to position, I don't get the same satisfaction from it as I would from a good run.

So when I got home late, very tired and mentally drained, I just didn't feel like doing 90 minutes of yoga. The irony is that the set of heavier weight workout bands I ordered were sitting on my porch when I got home. And then I felt guilty for skipping.

I'm going to try to make up for this over the weekend.

Wags finger... tsk tsk.
Feeling guilty yet?
Don't.
Mental and physical health go hand in hand.
Relax.

Don't worry about it. I hate yoga too.

Just don't skip too often. The diet goes with the exercise, so if you stop exercising, the diet is WAY more calories than you are burning.

I admit, I cut back on the calories yesterday. My chart says 3,000, but I honestly cannot eat that much stuff in a day without shakes or something.

Tim, you don't know me but we have several LJ friends in common. Is there a way I can contact you via email to learn more of your experience of P90X.

I like yoga, but it's a lot more fun if you have someone to do it with. Have I missed sessions? Sure. Have I cheated on my diet? Damned right, I have. Do I feel guilty about it? Hell no. It only makes me feel badly, when the whole point of all the exercise and better eating habits is to feel *better* about myself. What's important is that I've lost many pounds and I'm still working at it.

I always feel guilty when I skip my workout. But, I really try not to let it bug me. I really try to adopt the attitude that staying healthy isn't just about the physical parts of going to the gym, eating better, etc but also the mental pieces of accepting who I am, acknowledging I am healthy and fit, and knowing it really is ok when I skip a day because my body or mind just needs the break. You know you'll be back at it today, or tomorrow, no loss in fitness at all.
