Paranormal Activity 2

I took Monday off to recover from the previous week. My house was a mess, the laundry hadn't been done, and the cupboards were nearly bare. However, I did run out and catch a quick matinee of Paranormal Activity 2 before hitting the grocery store.
The movie is a bit of a prequel, detailing the events that occurred with the sister of the possessed lady from the first movie. It revolves around a young happy couple bringing home their baby son from the hospital. In the house is also the husband's teenage daughter from his first marriage, a Hispanic nanny, and a German shepard dog. After the boy grows from infant to young toddler, strange things begin to happen in the house. Items begin to be moved from where they once were, noises are heard, etc. These are subtle things that slowly build to bigger scares. Eventually, the family discovers why something is in their house and have to decide what they are willing to sacrifice to make it go away.
I love movies like this, where the scares are less gore and more situation, atmosphere, camera angles, and shocks. Blood isn't necessary for a good scary movie and this one does it well, surpassing the first I think as the building pace is much better defined. The best part (at least for me) is the dad, played by Brian Boland, who is a bearded, bespectacled bear of a guy, who spends a bit of time lounging in the pool and showing off the fur.
No spoilers, but the movie does interweave itself toward the end with the first. Only 91 minutes long and I think it'll make you jump (another good thing). No extra scene at the end. And I think this one might be a DVD buy for me.
