Sorry for the multiple posts on this. I'm not milking it, really, just putting together the full issue in a public post so I can refer non-LJ friends to it. It is wild to see all 22 pages together finally. I estimate that it takes over 120 man-hours to do an entire issue. If I didn't have to work for a living, I could actually crank out one a month I think. Oh, if those lottery winnings would only appear.

Anyway, here is the cover and behind the cut is the full issue! Large colorful pages, so it might take a while to fully load. And it is work-safe in a PG sort of way.

You're entirely welcome.

*hugs you back*

Now, let's convince Mark he has to PUBLISH these comics!

I was thinking exactly the same thing!
I'd happily lend my hand (ahem so to speak...) to the publicity :D

Yay! Maybe if we powertacklehug him we can convince him to publish. We'll sit on him and read War & Peace til he consents!

Now, I'm hoping for an Australian cubby superhero to appear in the next exciting episodes! Try and convince him to make your costume, um...revealing.

From: [identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com
Oooh.... powertacklehugs are good things. And I bet even War & Peace from you would be enticing.

Revealing, huh? Maybe he can be the "nude hero"...

From: [identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com
I'd love to see you draw a hero starkers.

Or at least with a more reavealing shirt. Show off that chest hair!

I'd be happy with a napkin if it meant I was immortalised in print!

Hell, nude is fine too...! But obviously "high class" nude...I ain't easy LOL

High class nude: Think Michelangelo.

Think Leonardo.

Think Mapplethorp.

Think Bear Magazine.

Let's play it by ear when we get there, and see how things fall out.

Goodness! I hope I don't forget my copy of War & Peace! Otherwise, what will we do???

Fall out....?! *swoon*
That's ok, if you forget your copy of War & Peace, we can play 'Mark Twister' instead :)

War & Peace? What the hell is that?

There are other things I'll need to pack!

Good man ;)
And the only thing you'll need to pack is a toothbrush and a smile :D

Actually, check out:

http://www.leonardandlarry.com

I think this the link to Palliard Press who was the original publisher. And they are down to $5 each, last time I looked.

I was lucky enough to get all four books as they were published. Palliard Press was indeed the publisher, and I know for certain #3 is out of print. I think #4 might be, too.

I can't get into the site from work for some reason, but I'll check it out tonight. If they have all the books, I'll see if I can get multiple copies.

I think either the website is down or closed. When I ordered them, the books actually came from "DreamHaven Books" in Minneapolis. You may have to look up their number and give them a call.

Tim Barela exhibited at IBR in 2000 or 2001 and was selling original pages from his books. We purchased the page from Domesticity Isn't Pretty where Leonard actually says it. You can see the pencil draft lines and everything, and Tim signed it at the bottom. Steve had just gotten a bonus at work, so we invested in art.

That is so cool! I do wish he was still publishing L&L.

I know I'm not remembering the quote exactly (well, I know it involved lemon zest), but I haven't read the book in a fair while.

Actually it's where Leonard says "Domesticity isn't pretty" while holding a toilet brush. But I really love the recipe swap one, and wish we had that too---

Ah, you're lucky! I found a matted/framed original page on eBay years ago and bought it. The page from Domesticity Isn't Pretty where they are sitting in the back yard waxing philosophically over picked oranges.

A couple named Tim and Rudy bought it and another, had them both framed, but ended up selling one of them. It's definitely a prized possession! I'm glad another page ended up in good hands :)

Yeah, we love it. Of course, we have your characters framed in our new house--the first original art there. You'll have to come see them!
