Spirit Day
Oct. 20th, 2010 08:45 amExcept for Green Shirt Thursday, I rarely plan on wearing a specific color during the week. However, in knowing that Spirit Day was going to be today, I made sure I had a purple shirt available. You'd be amazed how many people have asked why I'm wearing a tie today, yet haven't asked about the shirt. I wore the tie because the shirt looked strange without it.
I've not really commented here much about the reason for the Spirit Day. I myself had a more than the occasional bout with being teased and bullied when I was in school myself. I tend to disconnect a bit from my pre-college schooling because of it. My sister says I hold grudges too long, still loathing the sight of the idiots who made me miserable. It's an easy thing to say when it wasn't her who was on the firing line. Instead of remembering the good times, I recall the torment, which is something I need to change, because friends like
aceofspace and
bleuvalentines made the place bearable. I kept my sanity, gritted my teeth, and held out until I could leave. Things are better now because I endured and made them better for me.
On to lighter fare -- I do love this time of year. The weather gets cooler, the leaves are changing color (which is breathtakingly beautiful here in KY, I might add), and it's nearing Halloween, which means horror movies galore on TV. They are keeping me up late at night. Not because they make me scared, but because I'm staying up watching them. :)

Date: 2010-10-20 10:16 pm (UTC)There was a very very short period of like a week when I was about 16 that I wore mascara (that's the stuff to make eyelashes longer right? or is it eyeliner? *clueless*)... that stopped quickly when it streaked on my face and I had to run home before anyone saw it LOL
You look very handsome in that shirt, Mark.
