Guinness the Cat

Once I got to my hometown on Saturday, I got to see the latest addition to my sister's family. One of the joys of living in the country as she does is that there's always something new popping up. In this case it is this very sweet black cat. He's less than a year old we think, but very loving and even plays with their blonde lab Sammie. Now that my sister has started feeding him, he'll never leave. My guess is that he'll be indoors by the end of September at the latest.

When trying to figure out a name, we went through the usual black-pet names: Shadow, Midnight, Snowball, etc. I finally decided to suggest they name him after a beer, like I did Murphy (he's named after Murphy's Irish Stout). I coined him Guinness and I think the name may stick.

Did my sister put you up to this? She was already trying to get me to take him home by Sunday morning. I don't think two males in the same house would be a good idea.

Besides, Murphy already has a little sister named Maggie in the house and I don't want to turn into the crazy cat guy on the street by adding more.
