I did this over the weekend and forgot to post it. I was hoping to turn it into an animated icon for my journal here, but the frames didn't shrink well, so I'll have to do some retooling of it.

From Sketch to Toon
From Sketch to Finish

This is a drawing I did for an icon I'd planned to use for the [livejournal.com profile] comicbookbears group. It goes from sketch to ink to base colors to highlights and shadows to background finish. It's pretty rough, but I had fun doing it.

I'll redo it for an animated icon later.

Thanks John. Sorry for the abrupt "cut" but I'm at work today and our IT folks have been a bit vigilant of late.

That was my clue that something was amiss. I've got several other .gov friends and don't weant to get anyone in trouble.

Holy K-rap Kake, Buttman! That is Fur-eaking Fun-nomenal! I'm really impressed and want to see more of these. Each scene on its own is a stand-alone piece of art, but watching the progression is just awesome. I wants one! :o)

Well, thanks! I had played around with the animated GIF function in ImageReady and thought it might make for a cool image. I pretty much followed my usual routine of drawing and such, except that I inked this one on the computer when I usually do it on paper.

You wants one? :)

My dear, we really should meet some time. You can draw. I can knit. And we'll see what wonders we can wrought.

Well, if my sketches make you randy and being randy makes me want to sketch, it could be a vicious yet very enjoyable circle. :)

I've been meaning to do something like this for a while, but it's a bit more laborous than the usual cartoon. I have save it various stages and it's not as linear as it looks.

I do want to try this with a Grizzly cartoon for some reason.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. I rarely see this kind of animation from sketch to completion.

How long did it take you to do this particular work?

Well, thanks.

The sketch itself was something I drew over dinner one day, very quick. The inking and coloring wasn't so long. I did it quickly, but saving the individual frames took time. Still, not too much longer than the norm, a couple of hours or so.

It was just such an awesome way to composite your creative process! And yes I wants one, though I'm not 100% sure exactly what that means! Happy nearly belated Easter, sweetcheeks!
