Yard WorkI had my mental list of things I wanted to do this week, but now half-way through, I find I haven't done as much as I wanted. In the grand scheme of things, I just wanted to take a break I think, and so I have. I've been working on my next Christmas card design, but I'm hitting an artistic block. I've been to the gym a couple of times and spent a lot of time raking leaves. Three times this week in fact. My maple is a wicked tree, waiting for all the leaves to be raked up before dropping the next load when I go into the house.

Murphy the CatOne of the more rare events is my willingly allowing Murphy out of the house. He's been a house cat since he was a kitten and I think he finds the outdoors fascinating. He's never spent a great deal of time outdoors except for a three-hour stint when he snuck out while I was taking down Christmas decorations. In playing with the leaves, he discovered that they were edible. Yeah, I can't wait to clean that up later.

I tried to give Maggie her turn in the leaves, but she wanted no part of the outdoors today.

We're on the same wavelength. I took this week off for an @Home vacation as well and today I finally got around to dealing with the dead leaf wasteland under my Magnolia.

It's a pain, but at least raking leaves is good exercise. :)

I took the week off only because I had so much vacation I needed to burn it or lose it. I often wish I didn't travel so much for work, as it would make me more prone to traveling on vacation!

How'd you keep the Murphster from running off? Or does he stay close to the house by himself? I know it's hard, but I used to wait until ALL (or most) of the leaves were off the trees before raking. The yard doesn't look so nice, but it's a lot easier on the back. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

I don't ignore him. I put him down and stay close to him. Luckily, he gets out so infrequently that he is pretty much immobilized by the different smells around. He walks away from me and then finds a bush or plant he's never smelled and I have the chance to scoop him up before he rushes away.

That picture of Murphy is so adorable!

Unfortunately there are no leaves here for Barnabas to play in...and he's too bad to be let outside.

Murphy is a great cat and he tends to be very much the camera whore. He can turn into cuddly-cute at the drop of a cat treat.

I had to look at the rest of the Flickr pics of Murphy and just busted out laughing. He reminds me of my Ziggy when he sneaks out and the facial expressions were great.

Thanks.

p.s. nice legs on you!

Well, thanks!

Murphy is my buddy, a big cuddle monster pet, like I've never had before.

Murphy's awesome - I love those coats on cats. So do you hire out? I could use a hot bear man to do our yard work. My hedges could use some trimming! ;o)

Murphy is very much my "dog" in a sense. He loves to play and he's such a big cat, I can wrestle him about without hurting him. I've loved the red tabby cats ever since I saw Morris get finicky about 9 Lives.

And how big are your hedges? :D

I want to BE Murphy now. :o)

I strive to keep my hedges in a neat row, but they can always use a trim.

Mmmm, nice legs. ;)

Fall has just kicked in here as the colors start to pop out. Leaves are falling, but it will be some time before they all plot to the ground. We have yet to hit the freezing mark, but we've been close at 34°F.

I was shocked to see Murphy outdoors! I remember how he was so curious to be outdoors, but it was sensory overload once outside.

Well, thanks :)

The leaves here started changing a month ago and it's very pretty, but a pain to rake.

And I usually don't let him outside. He's been really good lately and I thought letting him play in the leaves would be fun. And yeah, the sensory overload keeps him from roaming.

I missed having fall up here. *hops over to your place and gambols in the piles of leaves merrily*

That shot of Murphy in the leaves is great. He's such a great kitty.

He really is a great kitty! And I was afraid he'd blend in the leaves! :)
