Holiday Weekend Buzzkill

As hectic as everything has been the last two weeks, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on things and my trip overseas is looming in less than a week.

Then a supervisor from my office calls me at home on my iPhone at 5 PM to tell me he's forwarding a huge project to me next week.

And now it's all I think about. Dang...

He called you AT HOME, after hours???? This guy has balls the size of basketballs! You say he's A supervisor...but not necessarily yours. Sounds like he has other options he's not bothering to utilize. Are there no such things as "due dates" or "deadlines"? Create them. Stick to them.

"Any project due by mm/dd/yy, must be on my desk by no later than 4pm 9/4/09. No exceptions...and certainly NO calling me after hours at home. If this is an emergency, contact NAME, who will NOT be leaving the country at the time you want your project done...and NO I will NOT 'squeeze it in'. If it was all THAT important, you wouldn't have sat on it all week."

See? Easy. Especially when it's not my job.

Does said supervisor realize that you will be overseas when it forwards said hug project?!!
You can't start on it early, my friend, so try to let it not spoil your weekend.
