There is a new business going up across the street. There is a large piece of equipment that raises a huge concrete disk into the air and then drops it on the earth, my guess is to compact the landscaping. It's fun to watch.

I can feel the vibration of the "thump" everytime it hits in my office, which is several hundred feet away from the site. My Diet Coke even ripples a bit.

I can seem to shake the idea that there is a giant or a Amazonian Chick from "Futurama" outside my window.

If they checked, they didn't tell anyone in my building. We didn't see it until we went to lunch and a coworker remarked that she had wondered what that vibration was.

No shattered windows or cracked walls yet.

That kind of vibration would affect the soil (since pressure waves would travel differently in a variety of soils), and you wouldn't see damage for some time as the building adjusts to the soil. I was just curious if they are even required to get permits to do that sort of thing. I hope the guys were cute though :P

I have no idea if they had to or not.

And I was too far away to check on the guy cuteness of the operators. Darn it.
