Two of Me

Duplicate MarkOne of my favorite members of the Legion of Super-Heroes is Duo Damsel. Originally called "Triplicate Girl" and having the ability to split into three identical selves, one of her three selves was killed by the evil computer Computo. The surviving two selves re-merged and became "Duo Damsel." This being her only ability, she certainly isn't the most powerful Legionnaire.

What I admire most about this ability is the practicality of it. Imagine how much a person could get done if all they had to do in the morning is split into two bodies. One could go to work, the other back to bed. Cleaning the house could get done twice as fast. At the gym, you could literally spot yourself in the weight room. Hanging pictures in the house alone would be a snap. If a date was going badly, you could go to the restroom, divide into two, and send one of yourselves to call you with an emergency after your other self went back to the table. If a date went extremely well you could surprise him or her with a menage-a-three (intentional misspelling).

Duo DamselI suppose that like someone who buys a larger house and feels the need to fill it, having another self would eventually cause me to find other things to do to fill up the extra free time generated by getting things done quicker. Still, it would be nice on those hectic days we all have when an extra pair of hands would be useful.

And what super-power would you feel would be the most useful if not the most powerful?

And I'm not posting anything to give away what happens to Duo Damsel in the last issue of "Final Crisis: Legions of Three-Earths."

If there were two of you ... Then if someone pissed off one of you, the other could take revenge while the offender was distracted. Would one of you be jealous if the other one of you got more attention? Could you divide into angel [livejournal.com profile] kybearfuzz and devil [livejournal.com profile] kybearfuzz? :) The possibilities are endless:)

As to Super Powers ... I would like the power to heal ... myself and others ... physically and emotionally, in every way ... Just call me The Healer!

Well, the way the power works is that the two selves would merge back together the whole would gather the memories of the two halves. So I don't see me getting jealous of me.

Healing powers would be great! And you'd be in big demand.

I like Cypher's language power.

I have to agree that Cypher's power would be really useful. You could be an interpreter, a translator, and even an archeologist. Imagine the big mysteries that you could uncover, being able to read things (symbols, hieroglyphics, etc.) from lost languages that no one else could handle.

I suspect the power could easily make you rich!

you forgot programming languages and genetics, I remember he and Warlock defeating the Magus by rewriting his code.

If there were two of me, we'd both be arguing that it should be the OTHER one who got to stay in bed. ;)

You know, I was reading your post and was thinking, "I wonder if he read FC: Legion of 3 Worlds yet?" Then I got to the end. *g*

I still think being telekinetic (at a reasonable power level) or being able to teleport would be the most useful powers. I'd love to be able to do the cleaning while sitting on the couch, or have my commute be half a second long...

I think teleporting would be awesome! And telekinesis would be the power I would choose if I could have any ability! :)

Oh, how great you're wearing Luornu's colors in that pic! Made me laugh...

As a fat kid who felt pretty worthless, the fact that even insignificant powers could count for something made me fall in love with the Legion of Super-Heroes. Triplicate Girl and Bouncing Boy really sold that message, so I was glad when they got together.

I actually had to retake the photos because I had my purple shirt on the left and I wanted it to match up with her Giffen-era costume (the colors get reversed sometimes).

There was a Legion issue about the Legion Academy (#304) and Duo Damsel had a great line in it:

"The best part of the LSH is how heroes with relatively weak powers can combine to become highly effective."

Most of the heroes in the Legion only had a single power and I liked how they were valuable, no matter how weak or strong the power was.

Yes, exactly. It's an aspect of the team that's been lacking during recent runs. Perhaps with the shorter back-up features in Adventure Comics they'll be able to explore this dynamic.

It's a shame that Johns will only be doing the outlines for the Legion at this point. He could certainly stand some DD powers right about now...

I love the photo. It's fun playing with pictures in photoshop, eh?

And the only superpower I ever wanted was teleportation. I hate driving!

I'm still learning how to do the photo merging. I did it by pasting a cut part of the image over the main one and using the eraser tool to take away what I didn't need. I'm sure there is an easier way to do it.

And teleporting would be an awesome power, definitely a time saver for we office commuters.

go you with the Duo Damsel orange and purple shirts! She clearly liked bears too... being with bouncing boy and all. Didn't he even sport a beard somewhere along the line :)

I was happy I had the shirts in those colors. I think I have pretty much the ROYGBIV spectrum covered :)

And she did like the bigger boys. Bouncing Boy had a beard in the "Five Years Later" part. He makes a damn fine bear! I didn't draw this image, but I like how it makes him look. Add a beard and WOOF!

I find myself waffling between Prof.X's psychic powers and Kate Pryde's ability to phase through solids.

However, the ablility to create multiples of oneself does have some interesting possibilities; if nothing else, if a date doesn't work out, you'd have the unique ability to...entertain... yourself. Who else knows all your G-spots and specific turn-ons better than you do?

I might never leave the house!

LOL... very VERY interesting possibilities :)

Very clever photo image! My gosh, the possibilities make the mind reel... why, if there were two of me, one of us would be diligently working on my income tax, while the other would be merrily procrastinating - just like right now - LOL

I think the best part would be that you *could* procrastinate and still get work done! It would be win-win!

I would have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] mat_t but take it one step further- Telekinesis and space/time manipulation. teleport to whereever and whenever you wanted. I would love to know who really shot JFK. I would love to know where Jimmy Hoffa was buried/dumped/burned/chopped up/fed to animals. Oh, and throw in some autocellular and tactile cellular regeneration. The power to heal oneself and others would be extremely beneficial.

Oooh.. now that is neat, though I think with time traveling, you'd have to be very VERY careful about changing anything. I wonder if having the abiilty to see the past wouldn't be better. Think of all the mysteries you could solve.

Still, going back in time yourself, you could take your camera and get some great photographic proof of things!

There you go! behold.... Codex Prime! powers include cellular re-generation (making him at least 438 years old- many beers were had at the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich) and can see through time to events in the past with untold clarity. He uses this ability to record and document past unknown events. Also speaks 10 languages fluently, including Latin, ancient Greek ad Aramaic.

wow.... now that's what i call the ultimate librarian.

I always liked Scarlet Witch's ability to affect probabilities. Tho with my temper, I'd probably cause all sorts of problems. But you could go to Vegas and have lots of fun. ;)

From: [identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com
That is true. I've always like the Scarlet Witch's powers, but figured I'd never want them. She had to have a lot of training to just get her power to function properly and even then it was suspect.

From what I'd read, the "frame of mind" combined with the "certain gestures" would be a lot of work.

If you could win that lottery though, you'd never have to use them again :D
