Home for the Holiday
Nov. 25th, 2008 07:13 pmThe Colonel and Me
I left the house earlier this morning, running a few errands for the family up north beforehand (i.e. getting beer and buying the puberty-transitioning nephew some new clothes). As always it's good to see Mom and the sibs.
I arrived in the land of the elongated "I's" and dropped g's around 3 PM. It's amazing how much stronger my accent becomes when I come back here. It's not even a conscious thing, but is automatic as soon as I hear others speak, especially my relatives.
Mom was craving some KFC, so I went to grab us a late lunch. While the server was getting the order ready I managed to do some quickie sightseeing at the Sanders Cafe and Museum and even took a photo of myself with Sanders above. It's always been something I've laughed about, watching tourists do these types of things, but it can be fun. Moreso for me as I have family who has told me what he was really like versus the sanitized Biography Channel version.
Countdown to turkey day... t-minus two and counting...
