Against Prop 8Cincinnati had their Prop 8 rally this afternoon in the rain and freezing cold. Along with Brian ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub), there were a good number of folks and familiar faces showing up to protest Proposition 8. Brian was nice enough to snap my photo, though I had a goofy look for me. I've never been to a political protest rally before and I admit that I was rather apprehensive at first, but it was very well organized, very well executed I think.

What made me happy was that it wasn't just gays and lesbians in the crowd, but heterosexual people, including parents, teachers and conscientious college students, who were there to support us. I think so many want to believe that only those affected directly do the protests, but it's not true. Big thanks to the college students who provided the signs to those of us who didn't think or get the chance to make one.

One of the real highlights was Margaret Cho who is in town to perform tonight (Brian and I have tickets). She performed a new song for the rally and I got most of it on video, though not her as the umbrellas blocked my view. Unfortunately, my camera stopped recording toward the end of her song, but the gist of it is apparent. It contains NWS language and the video is shaky so unless you want to have a Cloverfield-type reaction, you might just want to listen :)

OMGOMG L&L!

If you order one, call the place to order it. I think his online system is not working right now (I placed a recent order and had to call). Order now though, I think he only has limited quantities left.

Supporting a good cause AND having a fun time, good for you. I took guitar lessons a while ago and also decided I was guitarded :( but Margaret did pretty good. I'm sure her concert will be a blast!

She did a great job. She performed the song again at the show. I wish I had brought my camera to catch it in full.

Ohhh, that was sweet. :D What a surprise to get some entertainment like that too.

I doubt Raleigh's was that special. I was unable to go since I'm still recovering from being sick most of this past week. I watched for it on the news, but there was a tornado outbreak last night that resulted in fatalities. So, all of the media coverage switched to that understandably.

Oh, and that new userpic? Too hot. Just sayin'.

It was nice of her to show up, especially with the weather being so nasty here.

I do hope you're feeling better, it sounds like work isn't making any less stressful on you to get well. Big healing hugs to you!

And thanks! I thought it might make a good icon :)

Glad you guys were able to get out and protest even in the rain.
It was a sunny and cool day down here in Houston.

I envy you the weather. From what I've heard, there were about 500 people at ours and, with the weather and for conservative Cincinnati, that was really pretty good.
