mikiedoggie showed up after work for the weekend. It was quite a time:
Our first stop Friday night involved me singing publicly, the Hairspray Sing-A-Long at the University of Cincinnati, sponsored by the
Cincinnati Mens Chorus. Mike screamed about his undying love for Link, while we yelled "Go Tracy!" and hissed at the appearance of Mrs. Von Tussle. It was a great time and they should do it for "Mamma Mia" or something else. After the movie, Brian (
cincycub), Mike and I went out for beer and late night food.
The next day was a busy one. Mike, Derek (
_decibel_), Brian and I met up at
The Pub for lunch where Mike and Derek talked cameras with the waitress, I ogled the daddy bear at the bar, and we all had the yummy chocolate stout beer. After lunch, Brian left for Louisville and the rest of us took a trip to
Big Bone Lick State Park to see the bison, take photos, hike and buy tee-shirts. It was a beautiful day to walk around the woods. Afterward, we went for ice cream!
That night, Mike and I met up with
cubtharsis for an evening showing of
Quarantine at the Levee, where my "Big Bone Lick" shirt was garnering a bit of attention. The flick was good, but the shaky camera filming by a news crew trapped in a disease ridden building was a bit taxing. Very gory, quite shocking. Not something I'd buy, but worth seeing for sure. After the movie, Derek met us for Hawaiian pizza which was yummy.
Derek headed for home while
cubtharsis and I decided to take a spin on the
U.S.S. Nightmare, a haunted house ship docked on the Ohio River. Mikie decided to take some night photos instead. So we paid the extra few bucks to cut the line and go right in. With me playing Fred and
cubtharsis as Daphne, we led a quartet of teenage girls through the ship. The cast do a great job scaring everyone. My favorite character was the disfigured nurse who seemed to enjoy going after me. As far as haunted houses go, this was a long one, we were in there for at least 25 minutes or so.
After the haunted house, we decided to call it an evening and head out. I fell asleep quickly. Mike and I got up late today and had an early lunch at
Skyline Chili. Mike headed home afterward, I went for a haircut and did some chatting online. I was going to head to my hometown today, but I'm just too tired to drive down. I called Mom tonight to get the update on who has died back home and the usual downer information. She seems in good spirits, despite the news.
I didn't take photos, but Mikie did naturally, so his journal will have them later. I'm thankfully off this coming week as I have so much vacation time to burn. Sleeping in will be really nice.
