kybearfuzzMy mom had an exam in Lexington earlier last week and the doctor found out that she has 70% or more blockage and an ulcer in her carotid artery. The doctor said he's very concerned and she has surgery scheduled for tomorrow. So I'm heading down there today to stay tonight and possibly the next several nights while Mom recovers.
This does explain some of my mom's behavior over the last few months. Mom's phone calls have been overly negative, to the point where it is difficult to talk with her. She has become forgetful, repeating things over and over again and her moods have gone a bit haywire according to my sister. The lack of blood flow to her brain seems to be the suspect reason.
The big fear is that the doctor said that there is a greater than normal chance that my mom could have a stroke during surgery. Thoughts, prayers, good vibes -- any and all would be appreciated.
