The Color of Pain
My Calf Injury, Five Days Later

The colors of my bruised calf are finally vivid enough to share. You can actually tell where the ball hit (that yellow-ish clear zone) and the blue and purple bruising that radiated from it.

The good news is that it looks far worse that it feels now. I went running today for the first time since Tuesday night and it didn't bug me at all.

Still, it's put a crimp in my burgeoning career as a runway model.

Did I tell you about when I lost a high fly ball in the sun and found it in my face, or more specifically, my left eyebrow and sinus. $6,000 later, I have more bondo in my face than I do in all my cars combined, and I WAS LUCKY. Now you know why I don't play softball... when a fly is approaching you at a million miles an hour is NOT the time for your inner sports dyke and outter fag to get into an arguement on how to catch the damn thing.

Heal well, oh handsome Kentucky bear...

Ouch! That sounds horrible. I've heard of that happening, but since I usually end up screwing up in the outfield, that hasn't been a concern.

I wont lie, I am often afraid of the ball. Those line drives can hurt like hell.
