I hit the movies earlier today solo to see Mirrors. Keifer Sutherland stars as a disgraced NYPD cop who takes a job as a nightwatchman at a burned department store with large beautiful mirrors. While he roams the ruins at night, he realizes that something is actually behind the mirrors. When the reflections begin to move on their own, and then the spooky stuff happens at home, he tries to solve the mystery of what the forces behind the mirrors want. It is a nice creepy movie with good atmosphere and acting. Not something I see me buying, but it was fun.
Then, this evening, the Cincinnati Movie Bears got together for Tropic Thunder. When a spoiled actor and his crew end up trying to film a war movie in Vietnam, they end up getting left in the wilds to fend for themselves under the guise of a realistic filming. It's a fairly entertaining flick, Jack Black actually was the least unattractive he's been for a while. Robert Downey Jr is darn funny as an Australian method actor. I think the best part of the movie was the fake previews at the start. I believe we were all pleasantly surprised. Not one I'd buy, but it was worth watching. Afterward, we all went to Don Pablo's for dinner. Seventeen of us showed for this one, which was a great turn out.
