I need to find some new artists to listen to. Not that I don't love my 80's rock and pop and other crap that most people wont admit to enjoying, but I have lots of iPod space and feel the need for more.

Any suggestions?

Luke Doucet. Given your last post, he might fit perfectly.

And you can't go wrong with a good Madonna remix.

what's your musical taste beyond 80's rock? Are you mellowing a bit? If so there's some great new folk out there, Mary Beth Chapin & Joni Mitchell have some interesting new albums. Or try some of Everything But The Girl - Acoustic. Or Annie Lennox newest album Songs of Mass Destruction.

I should just send you a CD-ROM of the mp3 albums. Is there any particular genres that you like or don't like?

You may have most of these already, or your tastes may vary. Just some random, off the top thoughts.

If you want to try some Broadway, there's always the Big Four Tim's Faves:
Rent
Ragtime (my personal all-time fave),
Les Miserables
and Wicked.

Or try some choral music:
San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus - "Oh Happy Day" and "Exile" are a couple favorites.
The Benedictine Monks. (For some reason, I find the monks to be uber-relaxing when I'm in a super-pissy mood.)

Good old-fashioned throwbacks : Queen and ABBA.

If you like the Beatles, there are some great covers on the Across the Universe 2-disc set by various different artists. The movie is also great to check out, as well!

Another movie/soundtrack combination worth checking out is Juno, which is filled lots of catchy music.

I've been a fan of the Verve Remixed series for several years. They do some great remixes of old jazz songs. (I do have to admit that the recent fourth cd has disappointed me.)

I've recently discovered Mazzy Star.

Bjork is usually hummable even if she isn't always understandable...

I've been digging the new Alanis - "Flavors of Entanglement".

Shirley Bassey, both older and recent work. The CD that got me hooked on her is "The Remix Album : Diamonds are Forever".

Paul Potts,
Andrea Bocelli,
Michael Bubble

Obadiah Parker - Remember the "Hey Ya" video a couple years ago? Same group, great music.

Daft Punk,
Fisherspooner
and especially Goldfrapp. Oh yeah, and throw in Zero 7.

Imogen Heap is awesome. So is Sia, and Pink Martini.

I heart Sigür Ros.

A couple of new musicians I've tried and liked:
Clint Mansell, Serj Tankian, Darren Hayes, Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service.

I would suggest Across the Universe as well. Also I'm really digging Panic at the Disco (both their albums - different sounds on each) and Jet (not the 80's band, the new one) :)
