I'm Traveling Again and Fannie Flagg

kybearfuzzI've tried over the past week to post something, but the mood wasn't the greatest. I was working in Northern Ohio last week, heading back there today. I'm dreading it. The weather isn't the greatest right now for traveling north. I've not been to any movies in over two weeks (AMC is worried about their stock prices, I'm sure).
I recently finished a book by Fannie Flagg, who I have loved since her days on Match Game. I love Southern humor and her book, "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven," has been a lot of fun to read and to listen to (I bought the audio book later). When octogenarian Elner Shimfissle falls off the ladder while picking figs from the tree in her yard and dies, everyone in town is struck by grief and remembers all the ways the old lady brightened their lives with her advice and quirkiness. While they grieve, Elner takes a trip to Heaven, meeting her deceased sister who is still pissed about her bad hairdo at her funeral and finally her maker where she gets to ask the question that has bugged her for a long time: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" It's a very cute book and a good read.
I wish there was more to report, but when work travel beckons, sometimes my life gets put on hold. I'm looking forward to Ireland more and more...
