I'm off this week except Friday, so I packed up to head to my hometown today. I had to stop by the local Kinko's to check on my Christmas cards for the year. I do think they'll turn out well this year. Because of this side visit, I was a bit late getting started on the road. I am going to have to really focus to make sure I don't wreck the diet this week as my mom is a phenomenal cook.

On the way south, I decided to drive the stretch of US 25 South between Richmond, KY and Berea, KY instead of the interstate. I wanted to stop and take a photo of the Charolais (sp?) cattle farm sign. At the top of the sign is a large bull that is anatomically correct, if you get my drift. It had been a long tradition that the agriculture majors of Berea College and/or Eastern Kentucky University would climb up the sign to paint the testicles of the bull a different color. I've seen them black, florescent pink, even polka dots. Of course, blue was always a fan favorite. The owner I suppose would climb up at some point and paint them their original color only to have the students sneak up and paint them again.

I was disappointed, however, to find that the bull and the sign are gone. It looks like the farm might have been sold and some buildings are going up on the land. Oh well, I should have snapped a picture in the past, I guess.

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow as the sibs are all working, but I'm sure I'll find something.

Found your journal from a mention by [livejournal.com profile] snowboardjoe. He mentioned that we look a bit alike. I see the resemblance a bit too actually.

Anyway, my reason for replying... I'm amused to see someone posting about Charolais cattle. Most folks get Hereford, Angus, and perhaps even Jersey or Guernsey. But Charolais, not so much. Then again, I have a friend once that thought cattle were carnivorous beasts that roamed about eating other critters. I haven't quiet decided what animals cows would stalk and mount an assault on. Any ideas? :)

Howdy Dave!

I think we do favor a bit indeed!

I used to drive past the Charolais farm often. I'm not sure what a cow would stalk. Wild grass? From what I've seen from commercials, the happy cows live in California.. and some of them speak French! :)
