Today was an awesome day....

Spent the morning getting a crazy report finished after three weeks of an inspection sucking up every ounce of my energy and nearly all my free time. It's always nice to get those finished and turned it. Once done, I noticed that the building was hopping, co-workers from other offices were in for the party, everyone was pretty much in a great mood. It's a rare event in my office where most everyone is getting along perfectly. About 11 AM we went to Buca di Beppo for our holiday party. A really cool place and great food. The photos on the walls are everywhere and they are of some of the strangest and funniest situations, many of them a tad sexual in nature, but all entertaining.

The food was incredible -- garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken parmesan (sp?), and a wicked chocolate cake. We also had some things I wouldn't touch, like fried calamari. The party committee outdid themselves this year. As we got to the restaurant, we were immediately given a Christmas tree bulb necklace. It was part of a game called “Ho Ho No No”… here were the instructions:

The Instructions!

This game started innocent enough, but suddenly turned a little vicious and sneaky as everyone was trying to get you to say “No” and you’d be amazed how often you may say it. A person could have a dozen bulbs around his neck, accidently say “no” and lose them all to that person who asked. It was hysterical to watch and everyone got a real kick out of it. We played several other games, but I loved the originality of this one.

After the party, several of us went shopping at the shops at Rookwood Commons. I actually managed to buy some Christmas presents. I came to the idea that my sister often likes my clothes, so whatever I liked for me, I bought for her. This has worked in the past, so I’m hopeful. Mom’s gift is an assortment of scented candles from the Yankee Candle shop. My mom loves those sort of things… and I bought a few for myself.

After shopping, I met some of my co-workers at PF Chang’s. I had to wait for a few to show up and spent more than a few minutes checking out the tall, balding handsome bear who was apparently managing the restaurant. No ring on that finger.. hmmmm ;)

We grouped together at the bar and I had the worst Long Island Iced Tea I’ve ever had. After the rest of our gang showed up, we sat down at a table where I got a great view of a nice burly sweatered bear in a goatee… Hmmm… seeing a pattern here. After lettuce wraps and the best hot & sour soup I’ve ever had, I was full. My co-workers and I were hashing the events of the week, remembering some retired co-workers we’d seen lately, and having a general gripe session. It’s good to vent.

I got some of that great soup to take home and drove home. The only negative is that I’m hearing a rattle under my car, so I think something on my muffler is a bit loose. Need to let a garage take a look at that this weekend. Got home to have another cup of soup and catch a really great episode of “Joan of Arcadia.” I’ll be sleeping in late tomorrow and hitting the gym later and going to the garage. I admit, today was a banner day, one of the best I’ve had in a long time.. and I needed it.

If you like PF Chang's, have you ever tried Oriental Wok in Ft. Mitchell? It's hands-down the best for Chinese.

Hmmm... No I haven't been to Oriental Wok, but I'll have to try it sometime. I admit, I don't go out for Chinese very often, but that hot & sour soup is always something I go for. Thanks for the recommendation.

Watching "Arcadia" right now. Man, she sure treats Adam like doggy-do. I know it's just good television, but it's sort of depressing to think that God would want each one of us to make such radical changes in our lives and not be content to just live them...

I agree with you that it's a good show and I'm starting to arrange things so I can watch it. I think it's neat how God just pops up to talk to her though and through some action He wants you to do, so many people are affected. Being a teenager is the pits, so I don't think Joan sees the greater picture. Tonight's episode did send chills though, especially at the end, when you realize that her actions saved so many people from getting killed. I personally think that principal is the devil though. What a jerk!

No kidding. I wonder if he was at Sunnydale before he moved to Arcadia... *giggle*
