Back in the Hometown
Jun. 28th, 2007 08:07 pmSmile!
- Softball on Monday was a slaughter. Not sure the score, but it was a lot of their runs against a few of ours. I did make one fantastic play, which made me feel good at least. The ump was making some bad calls, both teams registered complaints.
- I'm on day two of my 12 day escape from work and drove down to Corbin, KY, my hometown today.
- I stopped in Berea to visit the campus and buy a tee-shirt. There are many chalk statements on the sidewalks. I did snag one with my camera phone (above).
- I ate lunch at the original Kentucky Fried Chicken (one of my hometown sights). I didn't realize how creepy the museum part tends to be. I forgot my camera or I'd share.
- My sister turns 36 tomorrow, card delivered, hug returned. She refers to this birthday as the seventh anniversary of her 29th birthday.
- My 11-year-old nephew has let his hair grow really long now. With his dark complexion, he looks like Sanjaya (shudder)!
- Mom has a colonoscopy tomorrow. I forgot my camera or I'd share.
- The one-year-old nephew is ambulatory and giggles at me repeatedly. He likes french fries and I make him laugh. He was running around and clocked himself on the coffee table, resulting in his first bleeding head wound. The twin took him to get stitches. He's a tough kid though, was grinning and eating more fries soon after it happened. All is well...
...and back to your regularly schedule programming already in progress...

Date: 2007-06-30 10:03 pm (UTC)My Great Aunt worked for Sanders when it was Sanders cafe and they had a gas station and all that jazz (and continued to work there for many years until she opened her own restaurant - which was the holiday restaurant downtown that was a Chinese place when we were in high school). Mom said there were photos with her in them in the museum. *laugh*
Hope you're enjoying your break!

Date: 2007-07-01 11:22 pm (UTC)According to my mom and grandmother, my cousin Nannie worked there. The Colonel said something mean to her one day and she hauled off and smacked him upside the head with a skillet. I wish they had a photo of that. :)
