Riding on the Metro...

After another day of class was done, I went to a late dinner with my local buddy Trevor at Annie's Steakhouse, a local "family" restaurant at Dupont Circle. The food was good, as was the company. He's a very interesting and handsome man, his other half is very lucky.
One of the most interesting things to me about the DC area is not a museum or monument actually, but the Metro itself. It's wonderful how it can literally take you nearly anywhere in the city for very little in cost. It also provides a fair level of entertainment in some respect. I took a few cell phone pics today of things I found somewhat interesting.
The first was on my morning ride to the training center. Nearly every morning, I see people snoozing on the Metro, which isn't something I'd try as I'd be afraid I'd sleep past my stop and snoozing around a constant rotation of strangers wouldn't help. This poor guy caught my eye, and yeah, the fact he's a daddy bear of sorts probably had something to do with it. I thought I would snap his picture for fun and he never woke up. And yet, he got off on my stop and didn't sleep through it. I'm curious how he does that.
The next picture came after my dinner with Trevor tonight. He was walking his friend's dog while escorting me back to the Metro stop. After a few minutes wait, I was on the way back to the hotel and this older couple got on after a group of giggling sorority girls toting pillows and sleeping bags got off.

These two promptly took their seat and started in on the public display of affection. The way his hand was rubbing under her shirt from the back and her hand rubbing his tummy, you know the two of them were going for it later. Everyone was getting a bit uncomfortable, especially the lady in the seat in front of them shown above. She is from the South and my guess is Baptist. Just a hunch really. So I took my cell phone out and acted like I was checking a message and snagged the photo.
As I was getting off at my stop, a young lady grinned at me and joked that she wished she had gotten a chance to take a picture like I did. For once, I got caught! :)
Who knows what tomorrow's ride will bring...

Date: 2007-03-29 11:17 am (UTC)P.D.A. is not unheard of on the Metro; I've even seen video of minor sex acts done on the train. Most veteran Metro riders are obvious to such things. Their in their own worlds, listening to their iPods or reading or sleeping. I wouldn't have ridden in the seat the lady (who was shying away from the amorous couple) anyway: no leg room!

Date: 2007-03-30 11:09 pm (UTC)The sleeping guy brought back memories of a guy on the Tube with us heading out of London one night. D and I were off to the end of the line and as the cab emptied, this sleeping guy remained. We got to the last stop and wondered if we should wake him. We saw an employee making the rounds through the cabs about that time and decided to let HIM wake the poor guy up.
Hope you're enjoying your trip!
