Clairee: I've just been to the dedication of the new children's park.
Truvy: Yeah, how did that go?
Clairee: Janice Van Meter got hit with a baseball. It was fabulous.
Truvy: Was she hurt?
Clairee: I doubt it. She got hit in the head.

I admit, it is one of my favorite lines from Steel Magnolias which seems to be played over and over again on cable, but I can't help but watch it. Why post it here? Eh, why not...

Today at work, I'm sporting jeans, sketchers, and the facial hair shirt designed by [livejournal.com profile] chrisglass, which is getting a lot of attention as everyone who sees it tries to figure out who the folks are. It's great to be wearing comfortable clothes again after a week of khakis and button-ups. I'd post a picture of me in a suit for the suit meme, but I don't really have one, a photo that is. I only wear the suits for weddings and funerals, which thankfully have been few of late, especially that latter one (knock on wood).

Not much else going on, I made it to the gym this morning, so I get to pass on that after work. I do look forward to sleeping in this weekend. The worst sound in the world to me is an alarm clock at 5 AM.

I love "Steel Magnolias", especially since I'm a Louisiana boy. It's like I grew up with some of those women.

My favorite line comes from Ouiser:
"Damnit I'm pleasant! I saw Drum Owen at the Piggly Wiggly, and I smiled at the son of a bitch! I couldn't help myself!"

Cracks me up every time.

Oh, the scene where Ouiser cuts M'Lynn's husband the butt off that armadillo cake and he responds, "Nothing like a good piece of ass..," absolutely kills me :)

I highly recommend the shirt, I bought one for a friend in Florida for Christmas and it gives me an excuse to stare at his chest when he wears it :D

I think Chris' shirts are amazing. I lack his skill (and equipment) to put them on a shirt, but maybe an iron-on transfer sometime.

Though I can't imagine where you'd wear some of my cartoons :D
