Ghost RiderToday was a very long day. I was exhausted after yesterday's interview and it seemed to carry over to today as well. Just mentally drained, all the stress from the interview just wore me out.

So after work, I decided to catch a late matinee of Ghost Rider. I've seen previews for this for months and the special effect looked incredible.

The movie is pretty good. It centers around a young stuntman named Johnny Blaze who sells his soul to the devil to save his father's life. As he grows older, he becomes a very famous stunt cyclist basically cheating death over and over, until the devil comes to call in his marker. When evil comes near him at night, Johnny becomes the Ghost Rider, with the flaming skull and supernatural motorcycle.

The special effects are incredible, very well done, and the story is pretty true to the comic from what I recall. I especially love handsome daddy bear Sam Elliott as the Rider's mentor. The biggest let down though was Nicholas Cage. I expect better acting from an Oscar winner and he constantly seems to gesture in Elvis-esque poses that makes me roll my eyes.

Did I enjoy the movie? Yes.
Would I watch it again? Yeah.
Buy the DVD? Maybe.

I saw Ghost Rider last night as well. I'm not familiar with the comic and found the first 3/4 of the movie fairly boring (probably because it was all the background of the character). I have to agree the special effects were good and Nicholas Cage a poor choice for the lead. For some reason, my favorite character was the Devil's son. Guess I'm just a sucker for a handsome, dark haired man. Loved Peter Fonda as the Devil too.

cage is not one of my favorite actors, but i wanted to see this. but instead, daren would only go out if we went to see Bridge to Terabithia, with that local actor boy. it was okay. daren got all weepy, it was a sad movie. it was okay, but i felt it would have been a better cable movie than paying $10. showcase cincinnati had sold out the 7:30 show, so we had to go to AMC. but at least I got a coupon for a free large coke and popcorn (or free movie ticket, which expired on Tuesday) with my geeky AMC movie watcher card. they were only about 1/3 full.
