A good friend of mine sent me an iTunes gift card in the mail and I've been pondering what to spend it on. I really enjoyed the audio book of "Naked" by David Sedaris. I was surprised by his voice, not sure why, but it wasn't how I originally imagined him to sound. I'll likely buy two more audio books of his. While goofing off at home tonight, I found this video of him on David Letterman that was very funny. Enjoy...

Lord, that was funny.

Sedaris' voice never bothered me since I grew accustomed to hearing it on radio. it reminded me of a college political science professor folks nicknamed "Squeaky Allen".

He sort of reminds me of a philosophy professor I had too, kinda quirky, but his voice was no where near as fun.

I can hook you up with Live at Carnegie Hall if you're interested. I'd just need your email address to send you a login.

I must say that seeing David on video is amusing and funnier than reading his books directly. My roommate gave me Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim last year for the holidays. I took a while to get around to reading it this summer and did find some of it amusing but not totally gut busting. I've also heard David on NPR a few times and after seeing the video clip think that perhaps the audio books or video of him is more worthwhile to catch the cadence and pauses that make modern day observations so humorous. :)

I love David Sedaris. I saw him in Detroit at a reading and the two hour long show flew by. I half expected him to continue talking long into the night. I knew his voice well since he was often showcased on This American Life on NPR. If you have a chance to catch one of his shows I highly recommend it.

I'm actually not much of a David Sedaris fan. I find some of his stuff funny, but mostly not. Perhaps I need to give him another chance.

I read "Me Talk Pretty One Day". It was alright.
I love "The Santaland Diaries". So I bough "Holidays on Ice", and really hated everything else in it.

Maybe I should give "Naked" a try.
